Mom on a Mission
I am a mother on a mission like so many and need your help!
My son was diagnosed with ALL +amp21 3 years ago, it was an emergency surprise after passing out and needing 7 transfusions to save his life and in a day we were fighting to keep him alive. In an attempt to make this story as compact and short ,after radical treatment he had a successful bone marrow transplant from my youngest daughter.
All of my children pulled together for a fundraiser for his 21st bday to raise money to help with costs like gas, parking, food and monthly expenses along the way etc. to survive and things that used to be necessities had changed drastically.
Three years ago life changed for our family .
He fought like a warrior and I never left his side. He was diagnosed again after a year of remission and given little hope. He chose to fight it his way and we all have supported him, its his life and he wanted to fight naturally. Hes a wild card to all cancer Drs and he has played hard ball and pushed way past what they expected. Now it's time for another round the medical way and a lot of hope, prayer and miracles.
Trying to keep this at a minimal length I'll fast forward to today. He is in the hospital at an all time low and his tumors are rupturing and causing great pain including deteriating bone leaving him w a broken rib in his back. Hes un able to walk far often just a few steps is excruciating among many other emotional and mental hurdles from the constant pain.
In order for me to be helpful and be there for my 4 kids , Zaks fiance and three grandchildren and Zaks baby who is his saving grace, his puppy and daily dose of happy medicine I need help for us all.
The last journey cost us well over $5000.00 and we had family to help house us near children's hospital.
Just a sneak peak, its $12 each time we park at the hospital alone.
Thank you for any help, every bit counts.
ZAK RECIEVED HIS TCELLS TODAY!
After a long week of ups and downs and penemonia, fevers, severe nausea, severe blood pressure drops and other scary things Zak has pulled through again like a champion.
With 100%of his bone marrow cancer and between 74%- 86% cancer in his blood he is holding strong. His cancer has moved to his lungs and brain and this week was a hard week for him.
ZAK IS DETERMINED AND HE PULLS THROUGH THE TOUGHEST MOMENTS with the Grace of a warrior , champion, angel, and rates top of the charts in bravery and courage.
This is a continued fight, he is not OUT of the deep waters yet. Ths experimental study has hope and is Zaks chance to have more time to enjoy his life. The study doesnt offer this as a long term solution or even a chance for remission ,but a dose of hope that will provide him some time to go on with his life and create some space for more solutions and healing this with his own health regimen and amazing outlook and attitude that has gotten him this far.
Zak is being monitored VERY closely now and will not be able to be left alone for months. As a family we will provide 24 hr care for him and take the shifts needed to make sure he is loved and protected as he goes through this next step.
Thank you for your continued generosity and support helping us with making sure necessities are taken care of.
These donations have provided a mattress, many dinners, groceries, gas, parking, and herbal supplements and vital supplements and rememedies Zak has needed to support his health along the way. Im pretty sure the parking garage alone makes bank off our family at $15 unless you rememeber a voucher to relieve it to $10 a day at the hospital and thats not including the costs at Seattle Cancer Care. The medical costs are outrageous.Your support has been immeasurable.
Thank you so much!
He always strives for his best and always has, this man never gives up, he's in excruciating pain and his body is invaded by the poisons of human errors, toxins , waste and pollutants that attack immunes with no conversation or debate challenging our loved ones through battles we will never comprehend.
Today he endures more than one person should in a lifetime, let alone a day and he smiled with his subtle smile ridden with pain. He still gave it his all when he couldnt get through a sentence and he opened his eyes as he could keep those beautiful lids above the blue that resides from the clarity of his soul.
His pain will be stabilized and he will be pumped with platelets and fluid tonight to start the Car T study tomorrow. A study that is very risky and his only offer on the table beneath a miracle I still believe in. This study will deliver 3 days of chemo and two days of rest and then his own t cells transplanted.
Because Zak is so sick and his cancer has invaded so much of the house he lives in he will be very quiet for a while resting his body and making music with his soul.
He will share his voice and music soon after this next climb. I know he can do it.
A song I remember so well him singing as a child with so much enthusiasm , it explains Zak so well.
"I think I can fly " R Kelly
As of today Zak will be having a bone marrow test and blood tests and it will take two days to get the results. These results will determine a treatment that Zak will again have to decide if it is what he would like to do.
This study has been denied before by Zak and Insurance more than once because the study was not far enough along to make Zak feel it was safe and gave him the chances he wants toward life.
Now it is on the table again as an option IF Zaks blood tests show he has the protien markers this test targets. This will be determined on Thursday.
Zak is having blood and platlets every 2-3 days depending on his body and how fast it needs it. Hes super tired most often and has to stay away from the public because of his non exhistant immune system at this point.
I am not going to go into the study numbers until I have an answer that this is an option and Zak makes a decision. Either way this is all that is on the table right now except his CBD oils and other natural options he continues to try to keep up with.
As I write my tears wont stop , spending time with my kids over Christmas was priceless and having Zak and his new wife and love next to him was a beautiful site. I love that he has such an extreme love with someone that stays by his side and cherishes him so much. Priceless to a mom!
I cant muster up anymore at this time I will try to keep you all as updates as I can emotionally get out. Hugs to you all and thank you for all your support to all of us.
Thank you for helping us all stick together, Gas, groceries, water, supplements, time, dinners etc. your all wonderful and every BIT Is soooo appreciated.
Two studies, the Car T cell study (maybe but not confirmed as of yet) is an option but the targeted cell that it works on Zak doesn't have anymore except possibly a few. This would put him at great risk to prepare for it with out the actual cells he needs to make it a possible solution.
The other test is even worse with only 2 people living out of near 200. NOT GOOD!
At this point Zak has been on IVs and they are trying to keep him without infection and waiting for his numbers to fall from the three days of Chemo he just endured.
He was able to go home for a day to rest in his own bed to be right back in the hospital the next day with a fever again.
He had a blood and platelet transplant this week as well as antibiotics to keep infections down with such low healthy blood cells to help him fight.
He has been more than tired and fatiqued but today he wanted dinner and he wanted burritoes , the sloppy good kind from Azteca. Well you know where I went lol.
This is what we need help with at this point in time while we search more. Zak has been turned down by other programs and other the Cancer Treatment Center of America because of his diagnoses and the severity of it. This has been frustrating to say the least.
Zak is now doing more CBD oils which have proven to help with leukemia but the doses he has to get to are very costly. We need $100 a day right now to even continue at the rate he is going, this is helping with numbers but he needs to up his doses as daily.
Any help with this would be amazing. This is so far the best plan and we will continue this until there is something more.
Does anyone have any ideas or places we may have not exhausted we can get Zak to? He has his own oxygen machine and does oxygen treatments daily and CBD oil amond other oils , mushrooms, wheat grass, spices and herbs and he just finished 3 days of Chemo every 12 hours.
This alone has kept him alive for 16 months since he was diagnosed for the second time after extensive trreatments and a transplant already.. Drs. have called him a wild card because they thought he wouldnt make it 3 months. Zak proved that wrong!
Our hearts are heavy and we are open to more suggestions. Prayers, Drs. ,places, HELP HELP HELP if you would like to share any thoughts as well.
