SOFIA'S FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

Donation protected

On October 19, 2015, Sofia went to a routine check up for an eye exam. The results of her exam were shattering, the doctor found out she had a malignant tumor in her right eye.

At the young age of 3, Sofia was diagnosed with a rare cancer known as retinoblastoma. Soon after the devastating diagnosis, her eye had to be removed. Since that date, she has undergone numerous sessions of chemotherapy. Sofia has had infections and is now experiencing liver, as well as heart problems as a result of the strong medications.

Her parents, Jean Pierre Nocetti and Marcela Covarrubias, are trying to keep up with the medical and travel expenses but funds are very limited, especially in Chile.  Her parents have to go to two different hospitals, depending on what she is going in for. Unfortunately, one of the hospital, in Santiago,  is about 1.5-2 hours away from their house in Valpariso. Apart the travel expenses, they have to deal with bills that add up to approximately $4,000 every 6 months (which include medications, hospital bills, and injections.)

The doctor have also commented to her parents about putting a prosthetic eye to protect the area and give her a sense of a normalcy amongst all the anguish and treatment she has undergone, which costs approximately $800.

They are dealing with an emotional burden of watching their little girl suffer from chemotherapy, infections, and the shock of losing an eye. The funds raised here would be a great help to her family and would also help provide Sofia with a prosthetic
eye .  Thank you!
