Harlem S.U.N. (Souls United to Nurture
We are a volunteer group that is expanding into a full time nonprofit organization. We serve adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse from the African Diaspora. With estimates of 1 in 4 girls & 1 in 6 boys being survivors of childhood sexual abuse, the need to assist adults who were never helped is critical! We are ending the silence and tending the pain.
The long term impact of childhood sexual abuse can be pervasive and debilitating, yet many survivors never tell, much less seek help. Our goal is to change that and support survivors through their healing journey by using the arts.
We need your help to continue our work through the establishment of a nonprofit organization. We have done programming in Harlem for the last 5 years and want to expand that programming year round. We are partners with anti violence program CONNECT NYC ( connectnyc.org).
We need funds to establish our organization and to begin programming year round. We will offer:
*Self Care Healing Circles
*Creative Arts Workshops
*Community Awareness & Advocacy Programs
*Survivor Support Groups
*Referrals for counseling & other resources
We are committed to the total healing of those who were violated as children and who carry those effects today. Please help us with this mission and with the goal of ending abuse in our communities!
