James Morrison Fund
We also invite you to join us in person at the Evening Star for an event in his honor. There will be a party that would make James proud! Please see the facebook event https://www.facebook.com/events/652925318203315/?ti=cl
Although James has lived everywhere from Hawaii to South Carolina, we all got lucky when he decided over a decade ago to make Alexandria his home. We hope you will join us on the 26th to raise a glass in his honor, but if you can't make it, please consider donating through this site. James' sister, Kelly Morrison Pop, will be withdrawing and administering the funds raised. Thank you!
A Memorial Mass for James will be celebrated 12:00 noon, Wednesday October 5, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 800 S. Cathedral Place, Richmond, VA 23220.
We invite you and the Evening Star Cafe family to attend and join us for a reception following the service in the parish hall. Parking is on Laurel and Main in the VCU parking lot.
We were all saddened and surprised at how little time James had left after the fundraising effort commenced. Just for clarification, the money raised through this site and the money raised at the event is being given entirely to James' family and his sister Kelly is administering the funds. They will use it to cover James' expenses to date and then they will be deciding how the remainder (if there is a remainder) will be donated.
Thank you all again for the generosity and support for James and his family. We hope to see all who can make it in Richmond tomorrow. We will also post any information on additional memorials that may be held locally to honor and remember James.
As most of you know by now, we lost James last night. It’s a cliché, but still true: no matter how much you know and accept that a thing like this is likely to happen, it’s still devastating when it actually does. We want most of all to thank all of you for the outpouring of love and support. While, for obvious reasons, James was not able to attend Monday night’s event, his sister and brother were there. They were able to share the many photos that were taken and to relay to James the messages, stories, and memories they heard that night, and they let us know that it meant a great deal to him at exactly the time that it mattered most.
With your help, between this site and the event, we were able to raise nearly $40,000 for James, and that money will now go to help his family deal with the many expenses that inevitably accompany tragedies like this one. They wanted us to pass along their immense thanks and appreciation, and we want to express the same.
It’s often at the worst of times that we are reminded of the bonds that hold us together and make us stronger, and this was no exception. On our behalf and on behalf of the entire, amazing Evening Star Café family, thank you.

Don't forget to come to the Evening Star Cafe tonight to continue to show support for James. The party will kick off at 7pm.
See you then!
My sympathy to all the Morrison family.
