Julie ann Fiegert....she is our friend, our mother, our wife, our daughter and a very loved one!
On the 19th of September, my mother was in a serious bus crash in Soria, north of Madrid, Spain. Mum has just finished the holiday of her lifetime walking from France to Spain with her good friends. She has dreamt of doing this her entire life and finally achieved it after setting out over a week ago. She was almost ready to head home this week when tragedy has stopped her in her path. The bus she was on (in the front seat) collided with a truck on the highway and 45 passengers were injured in some way. 7 are critical and 1 died.
My mum was airlifted out and is critical. She was sharing the bus ride beside the person who died.
She is heavily sedated in the Burgos Hospital north of Madrid. A very prestigious hospital with the highest level of surgeons.
Her known injuries as at Sep 20th are as follows:
Broken arm
Broken collarbone
Several broken ribs
Punctured lungs Torn spleen Pulmonary artery severs Crushed both her legs (tibias) Broken femur Lacerations and bruising At this stage her head and heart are ok...thank GOD! Really...we are thanking God that she is alive, and we want it to stay that way. Julie ann does have travel insurance but the ongoing costs are going to be monumental. Especially once she is home. She is going to have a very very long stay in this hospital in burgos and need multiple surgeries as well as therapies, recovery sessions and many costs to keep dad over in Spain by her side the entire time. My brother and I wish to go to Spain and when i know more and will be able to update everyone as much as possible. This is my mum...you all know her as the giver, the one who would do anything for any of you...she loves you all and i know you love her.
