Billy Fraley's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Dear Friends, I am writing on behalf of my friend Caroline Beck Fraley and her husband Kevin Fraley. On the night of September 13th, 2016, their fourteen year old son Billy was tending goal with his freshman soccer team at Plainfield South High School. Toward the end of the game, he dove to stop a goal and was kneed directly in the nose. Billy suffered a horrendous injury as his nose was pushed into his head. Billy was rushed to Edwards ER in Plainfield, but they were unwilling to treat him due to the severity of his injuries. Similarly, Edwards ER in Naperville did not want him transferred there. Billy endured a 50 mile ambulance ride before finally being seen by specialists at Loyala University Medical Center. Multiple tests, CT scans and specialists were consulted to determine the best course of action. It was determined that even with the most proficient plastic surgeons, they will only be able to reconstruct Billy's nose to 85% normalcy. That first of many surgeries occurred Wednesday, September 14th, 2016. Billy has a very long road to recovery in front of him and during that time, Caroline and Kevin will have to make repeated trips back and forth from the suburbs to the city. They will be watching to ensure that the nasal bridge does not collapse or cave in. Furthermore, the doctors have assured the Fraleys that as Billy's face changes shape throughout puberty, he will need further surgery. The current and upcoming medical bills will be staggering. As all of this has happened on an emergency basis, none of the surgery or doctors have been pre-approved and it is unclear what may or may not be covered by insurance. Any financial assistance you can provide will be so greatly appreciated to help them get through this difficult time. Thank you so much.
