Guel Kids Going To State!
Donation protected
Nathan, Daniel, Abigail, and Evangeline Guel are hoping to attend the 2018 Texas State Scholastic Chess Championship in Houston, Texas. The event is a 3-day chess tournament, March 9 to 11.
The ancient game of chess helps children in a number of ways. Chess helps young people learn concentration, logical thinking, pattern recognition, focusing skills, sportsmanship, and more.
The Guel children have been competitive chess players for several years now, and the Texas State Championship is the ultimate state-wide chess competition for scholastic players.
All of the Guel children enjoy competitive chess, and they all have made great strides in chess competition, especially:
Daniel Guel - 96th percentile of all junior chess players in the nation; the top scholastic chess player in Waco, Texas; and 90th percentile of all players in the nation
Abigail Guel - 72nd percentile of all female chess players in the nation
Eve Guel - Multiple trophies earned in several scholastic tournaments
Nathan Guel - A dedicated scholastic player for more than 3 years
To attend the State Championship in Houston, the Guels will need the following:
- Entry Fees $200
- Lodging Fees $800
- Food and Transportation $375
- Total $1,375
We hope to have these funds secured by mid-February. We really appreciate all of your support!
