The morning of september 4th 2016 around 1am, My mother Natalia Valle was coming home with Dad from Wakemed Raleigh because Dad had an accident at work and needed medical attention. As they both approached the door to their apartment they were involved in an act of violence. A masked man who was hiding under the stairs to their apartment approached them at gun point asking for their belongings. Attempts were made to shoot at Dad but no bullets were fired, mom on the other hand was badly injuried. She was shot once to the left side of her abdomen, she was in surgery for 4 long hours, the longest hours of my life. The bullet did terrible damage; her left kidney was removed along with her spleen and she has a injury to her spinal cord, she is now unable to move her legs affecting her walking abilities. She requires physical and occupational therapy to bring her to a functional way of life so she can care for her younger children ages 17, 11, 8 and 5 months old. My mother has always been a hard working independent women who goes above and beyond for her children and others. This event has changed her life drastically and she will require assistance from others with the daily activities of her life.
The funds raised will assist with medical expenses and new adjustements needed at home for her to continue to have a functional life at home. Anything you are willing to contribute is deeply appreciated,
