Three years ago in Septmerber I met the most amazing man, in the most unexpected way.
We met on Bourbon Street, in New Orleans. I was there on a girls trip, for my two best friends birthday's and he was there for a bachelor party. Both of us just looking to have fun and enjoy our friends. Little did we know we would be meeting our other half.
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was standing at the bar in The Swamp and I turned around and saw this hot guy wearing a Flordia State hat. Me being me (everyone that knows me knows that I am not a shy person at all) and the college football fan that I am decides the best way to strike up a conversation would be to talk about football. So again, me being me I instantly start giving him crap about his team and being in the ACC. Little did I know Flordia State was having the best season in college football at that point ( they would go on to win the National Championship that year), I'm an SEC girl. His only response was "who is your team"? Which I immediately responed to with "I'm GEORGIA GIRL, I bleed red and black". (Side note if you know nothing about us at all we are both very sarcastic with a sadistic sense of humor. ) His response was didn't you just lose to Clemison last week? We talked for a few more minutes throwing witty comebacks back and forth at one another. At this point I had finally met my match. There was ACTUALLY someone else in this world that could be just as sarcastic as me. I didn't know whether to be turned on or to flee that very moment.
So being the sensable person I am I fled. My friend Esther and I left and went to some more places, while our other girlfriends stayed and chatted with his friends. Needless to say I never thought I would see him again since no one in either of our groups exchanged numbers. I remember waking up the next morning thinking I had made a huge mistake and should have gotten his number.
As fate would have it the very next night as we were leaving dinner and heading down Bourbon Street for our last night out on the town we hear "Tiffany". All of us puzzled wondering who would know my best friend down here looked around and see the guys from the bachelor party from the night before. I immediatly walked up to Dustin and asked him if he remembered me from the night before. He said yes with a huge smile on his face. So asked him, "what's my name"? He said, "it starts with a J"....."Jennifer"....No. He told me to give him a break that the only reason why I remember his name was because I had rhymed his. "Dustin from Destin". I will admit it did help. So I decided to give him another chance ; ) We were inseparable for the rest of the night. We exchanged numbers and talked on the phone every night for a month straight. I really felt like we got to know each other on a deeper more personal level because unlike the way most relationships start off, by dating, we were separated by three states. The only way we were able to get to know each other was through our conversations.
In October we finally went on our first date! Which was a week long in Destin, Florida. (Talk about trying to sweep a girl off her feet). He took me to the wedding of his childhood friend, the one that had his bachelor party in New Orleans and we have been together ever since. Fate works in strange ways I never thought I would meet my fiance on Bourbon Street but I wouldn't trade our love story for the world, it's truely unique to us and how many people can say they found their true love on Bourbon Street?
On September 24, 2016 three years and three days after the day we met we will be getting married! I could not have asked for a better man or partner in life. He has been everything that I have prayed for since I was a little girl.
With all that being said it now brings me to why we are starting this go fund me. Dustin and I have paid for the majority of our wedding on our own and I'm sure all of you know weddings are not cheap. We have also had to deal with the added stress of me being in and out of the hospital for the last two months. So with wedding expenses and now hospital bills as well as our regular bills, we will not be able to go on a honeymoon without some help.
We would like to ask our family and friends to share our story and help us raise money so we can go on our honeymoon and help us get away from the stress my health has left us with in these last two months. We know that everyone has there own stresses and bills as well but anything that you can contribute would be a tremendous help to getting us on our way.
From the bottom of our hearts thank you to all those that took the time to read our story and get to know us a little more.
