Help for Alek

$24,435 of $25,000 goal

I have never asked for help in my life, but unfortunately I have come to a time where I need to. My 14 year old son Alek was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with a very rare and deadly form of cancer (NUT midline carcinoma ).  This particular cancer is nearly impossible to treat.  And there have been less than 100 people in the past 10 years diagnosed with it. Unfortunately only a handful have survived.   The cancer has already spread from his lung to many other places in his body. The doctors are no longer talking about saving him, they are basically going to fill him with chemo to try and give him some extra time. The reason I am asking for help is there are clinics that are using experimental methods to stop cancer. Supposedly they have been very successful even with late stage terminal cancers. I am thinking it's worth a try at this point since conventional methods won't save him. Problem is insurance won't pay. I have always lived paycheck to paycheck working 3 to 4 jobs at one time. Now all that's gone since I basically have to care for him full time. The therapies I have been looking at cost between $10 and $15k, plus the cost to get him there and the cost of ongoing medications.  So I'm asking for a little help, if enough people give a little I might be able to get him there before he goes downhill any further. I know it's rolling the dice, but in my heart I think it could actually work.

My life has unfortunately been touched by a lot of death. My mother died at the age of 50 due to an aggressive form of cancer. And my stepsister died suddenly from heart issues. For many years (since the age of 5) it's just been Alek and me. He was my rock, the one person I could always count on being there for me.  He is also the perfect kid, never back talked, always sweet and really cared about others.  I really don't understand why an innocent kid could get such a horrible disease. But hopefully it's not too late to save him. I'm doing everything in my power. I thank you all in advance, and i will be thanking you individually and posting any updates.

Alek gave up the fight against this horrid disease today. He fought hard down to his very last breath. Now he's in a peaceful place with no more pain. I wish he had more time on this earth, but that's purely for selfish reasons because I love him so much. I'm really proud of him, he put up with a lot more than anyone could expect a child to handle. He had hope the whole time, I never allowed anyone to take that away from him.

I wanted to provide a quick update on Alek, the bleeding stopped about 6 hours after it started and so far has not returned! It was scary for a while, it's not fun to hear your son's doctor tell you to think about making funeral arrangements. Anyway, that crisis was averted and I attribute it to all the people who are pulling for him! So keep it up, now the focus returns to fighting the cancer! Next step is getting him off the coagulation agents, then getting some food into the feeding tube. Hopefully he can get to the point where he's strong enough to get out of bed. Again, I thank you all for the prayers, it's working!

Please say a prayer for Alek. His condition took a sudden turn for the worst. Currently he has severe internal bleeding and nothing the doctors have done has been successful in stopping it.

I am so sorry to hear that Alek has passed, but glad for the fact he suffers no more. You gave him the very best care that you could and he must have felt very loved and comforted by that. Deepest sympathy with love and prayers for you during this difficult time. I've followed your story with hope for you and am deeply saddened by the news of Alek's passing. Your son went to heaven knowing he was loved, not even cancer can take that away from anyone.

I wanted to thank you all for all the support and prayers. Alek was truly an Earth Angel and I am honored that God selected me to be his mother. I have observed with each visit how this terrible disease was taking over his beautiful body and he had it harder and harder to move. His father and I had high hopes for the G-tube, but as his body was internally falling apart it did not benefit the boy much. He had complications everywhere and there was not much we and the doctors could do for him, but let his suffering stop... Alek was very brave and he did not want to let us down... As he passed and laid there peacefully, I helped the nurses to clean his body and get him ready for a morgue transport...He was just so beautiful, his hair has grown back and his eyelashes grew back so long and that perfect nose... When they rolled him closer to the facility, I saw a lady bug on his covered body. Lady bug had 15 dots on it ( Alek's age). That was Alek giving me a sign that he is OK and with God. Please take a moment and cherish the memories of that precious child and I really hope this event helped everyone to be a better person... I also ask all Jeffrey's friends to give him support and never let him think that he could have done more. There was nothing he could have done to prevent this event. Letting go, forgive and love deeper is the biggest lesson for all... Blessings and remember, the soul never dies. Alek is in the highest form of being now...Ascended to become a Guardian Angel... ~Alek's mom~
