Stay Strong Stacey

My beautiful, loving, talented niece Stacey is just 41 years old.  She is in love with and has been happily married to her college sweetheart, Devin, for 17 years.  They have three terrific children: Colby 13, Jackson 12, and Dalila, 9. 

They live a peaceful, happy life 8,000 feet up in the gorgeous mountain town of Estes Park, Colorado; she is a graphic designer and recently hired as an adjunct instructor at the local junior college and Devin is a general contractor.

Everything WAS wonderful and normal… 
And then it WASN’T.... dammit anyways!
 
Stacey did a breast self-exam (as she was compelled to  based by a dear friend who had just been diagnosed with breast cancer) – OHDEARGOD!  A lump! Rushing 1-1/2 hours down the winding 2-lane road for the mammogram and diagnostic ultrasound,  and then back again two days later for the dreaded biopsy. The ominous results came in a few days later: she has breast cancer. Crap, crap, crap!!!!
 
Normal life no longer WAS… Stacey's treatment plan for the next year is extensive and consists of an immediate bilateral mastectomy, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and reconstructive surgery. This will be a very rough journey that not only Stacey will endure, but her beloved family as well.

Doctors and procedures are a minimum of 1-1/2 hours away, each way, so that adds another layer of hardship, and worry, and stress – all that BS that frikkin’ cancer just loves. 

 They have their own insurance, but paying the sky-high premiums, the numerous mounting medical bills, medications, time off work for both, consistent trips down the hill, and running and maintaining a household of five -- is now their financial reality. Stacey has taken a leave from both her design job and her instructor position for the next year. 

 This page was set up to help the wonderful Jacobs family offset some of these costs and let them focus on getting Stacey healthy over the next year.
