Hey folks!

The name's Mysen, though some of you folks on the internet know me as the hipster "M1SF0RTUNE." Today, I wanna tell you folks about a dream I'm chasing and how this campaign about my first-ever animation marks a big step to achieving it.

About Mysen...

That's me, a young geeky writer and a poor, simple college student with a dream and a tiny apartment. If you're wondering what a full-time janitor of the Cornad Hilton hotel and part-time writer looks like, that'd be that shmuck there on the screen!

This picture is me at 3:50 AM in the morning on May 1st, drawing up plans and writing notes for the script on my work/school tablet to my first-ever jab at an animation! After having 3 plays written and performed, while also directing 4 plays and acting in 3, I've set my sights on doing an animated video on YouTube.

(If you're interested in my one-act plays, both completed and early drafts that I've written for college, here's a small collection of my plays! [For my first-ever comedy, check out "Ideas for Hire!")

For those of you who know what the Brony community is, that's where the project will be built from and dedicated to, as they've helped me tap into my potential for the last 3 years (along with family, friends, and my adorable kitty Jasmine).

(Isn't she the cutest grumpy kitty I'm bugging this early in the morning?)

I'm predominantly a drama writer, but I'm looking to get some practice in comedy. In fact, this is a good chance to segue to what my project is!

About the Project...

So what even is this thing I'm making?

Previously under the codename "Project Icarus," (a metaphor for the scope, ambition, and high margin of failure much like the Greek legend), is a short comedy animation inspired by heist flicks like The Italian Job and Ocean's Eleven, called...

======="The Equestrian Job"========

The Equestrain Job is going to feature a small group of thieves break past high security to steal a valuable treasure, all while making wisecracks at each other and having hilarious close encounters along the way! Imagine if there was an animated iteration of Ocean's Eleven with 3 characters instead of 11, or the Uncharted games but with cartoon(ier) characters instead.

Currently, the script is mostly finished and we're currently in the pre-fundraiser concept phase. Thus far, I've been working with my animator for concept imagery (that is all featured here on this campaign page), asked an online musician friend to compose the score, and casted  the 3 lead roles. Speaking of 3 lead roles, below are the characters featured for the short, courtesy of the animator for the project:

But in order to bring The Equestrian Job to life, I've discovered that in order to make a quality video while also using it as a spring board for building my reputation up, it's going to cost a fair bit of money.

At the moment, The Equestrian Job is going to cost me roughly $13,000 to pay for the entire thing. However, you've probably noticed that I made my goal in this GoFundMe campaign as $2500. That's because this fundraiser page is going to be used to prepare a Kickstarter campaign, such as gathering advertisement materials, concept art, actor clips, drafts of the script, and a trailer video to promote the skit.

The plan for The Equestrain Job, to manage costs and reach an easily-obtainable fundraiser goal, is to break our previously 15-minute skit up into 5 mini-episodes with our Kickstarter goalpost planted on paying for the first episode. The highest milestone goal reaches up to the $13,000 goal to pay for the entire skit. Of course, for both phases of the project, I have and will be putting a lot of my own money from my full-time job.

So in short, if I can reach $2500 here to pay for the Kickstarter campaign, then use that to pay for this project, that ultimately will put me just one step closer to achieving my lifelong dream.

About the dream...

Ever since I was 10 years old, I've wanted to become a successful writer in the entertainment industry. Especially for games.  However, I've spent far too much time out of my life beating myself down about my writing capability and making no progress to accomplishing my dream. Writer's block, depression, lack of confidence, feeling like I'll never be able to live up to other works, all these things stopped me in the past.

This animation is the thing that I hope will break that trend. It's the first project I've gotten personally and financially invested into, my first real exposure to the world, and the first time I've had a dedicated team of people willing to help my cause. It's also the first time I considered turning to a fundraising site. Go me!

Suffice to say, creating this will mean the world to me. I'm done letting money be the thing that stops me from accomplishing my dream, and that starts with The Equestrain Job.

If there's any money you're willing to put toward helping a writer make his mark on the world and add something fun, witty, and funny to the world, I'll be eternally grateful, and I promise that every dime will go toward making this animation a reality.

A final word...

Whew. Lotta text isn't it? Guess my writer thing must be showing!

But thank you so much for making it down this far. You've already achieved yourself a hundred awesome points. =)

So to bring this long wall of text to a close, I appreciate your time so much, and I hope you'll be willing to help bring The Equestrian Job to life and help a writer come one step closer to realizing his lifelong dream.

Thanks again, and stay awesome, whoever you are. =)

Sincerely,

-M.
