On September 1, 2016 the Pilote family suffered a devistating garage fire. During the fire their eldest son Nicholas was in the garage and in his attempts to escape he has suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to over 60% of his body. He is currently being transported to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital to seek further treatment. We are trying to help the family out during their time away from home, while Nick gets treatment.

An amazing update from Angie and Nick, such GREAT news!! We can't wait to have them home!
Hello to everyone from Nick and I :) Sorry there hasn't been very many updates lately. Nick has been doing awesome, he's blowing away all the doctors and nurses. They say that in the years they have been working with burn survivors Nick is the first they have seen where all his skin grafts took the first time and he is healing at an incredible speed! Mind you it isn't fast enough for him, lol :) He took his first bath last week, he was nervous as was I, due to the fact of not knowing how it would feel or if it would hurt, but it went very well and he soaked in it for 2 hours! He has been taking them regularly now as part of healing and hydrating his skin. We also have been doing physical therapy everyday to get his strength up as well to get his limbs moving properly again. It Tucker's him out but he pushes through it like a champ! As of yesterday he has been off his narcotics (hydro morphone) for pain, and is now on Tylenol and Advil, he says his pain comes and goes but is nothing he cant handle (my boy just amazes me everyday)
Now for the big news that I am sure everyone would like to know we have been given a home date!!! we weren't sure at first if it would be possible, but as the days go by he is still doing great and the doctors feel confident that it is a for sure date of OCTOBER 18/16 :) so the plan is that my mom will be going home on Sunday with Dean and Nick and I will be flying home on the Tuesday, because they think the 5 hour drive may be too much for him.
We just wanted to say Thank you to everyone again for everything, yous have all made this a little more bearable and given us all the strength to get through this!
Love yous all xo

Update on Nick - Things are looking really good for him this week. He has a time line goal of possibly being able to return home in 2 weeks! After a rough couple weeks fighting an infection at his donar site, intense pain and a lot of anibiotics he has something to look forward too. We would like to say Thank you for the generous donations, prayers and kind words.

Update September 22, 2016 - It's another great day to report Nicholas' progress! We are all excited to tell you the Dr.'s have reported that Nicks skin grafts on his legs look great and at this point they are saying no more surgeries!! They have taken all his casts off and he will be allowed more movement, he is still wrapped to avoid infection but able to get up and sit in a wheelchair. We still don't have a time line for when he can come home but happy for the progress he is making. Thank you to everyone who donated and prayed for a speedy recovery!
