Sammy's Medical & End of Life Care

Our little Sammy has overcome many obstacles in the past and now we are suddenly faced with something he cannot overcome.  Our little guy would be celebrating his 10th birthday in two weeks.  Instead of planning that celebration we are faced with having to say goodbye.

Sammy is a Pomeranian/Cavalier King Charles mix that has always been full of energy and  spunk!  He always wore a smile on his face!  He loved agility and his "Mr. Man".  No matter how many different toys I would buy, he always only wanted to play with his little stuffed bear that he knows by name.  If we tell him to go get "Mr. Man", he would run to go get it and drop it at our feet.  He is even cuddling with his "Mr. Man" as I type this.

Sammy went instantly from being his rambunctious little self to not being able to stand, eat, drink or sleep and experiencing extreme nausea.  This all happened very quickly, within a matter of a few minutes.  We took him to the emergency clinic in the middle of the night last night.  They found he had a bad heart murmur and was anemic.  We followed up with our veterinarian this morning and had a chest X-Ray done.  The X-Ray shows that Sammy has a large tumor on his spleen.  It may have ruptured and caused some bleeding in his abdomen.  The bleeding may temporarily stop and he may start to feel somewhat better or he may only get worse and experience much more pain.  The worsening can happen at anytime.

This is an overwhelmingly painful decision but we have taken Sammy home to say our goodbyes and allow him to cross the rainbow bridge before the pain is more than he can bear.

I recently lost my job and am  struggling with covering the unexpected medical expenses incurred so far (x-ray, bloodwork, EKG, emergency clinic and veterinarian visits) and the cost to have Sammy euthanized and cremated.

I cannot express my extreme gratitude for any amount you may be able to donate.  Funds are needed as soon as possible and I do not have the means to come up with it as quickly as needed.

Thank you for taking a moment to read Sammy's story.  Even if you cannot donate, we would be grateful for your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
