Sandy's Cancer Battle

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Sandy Harp-Davis. I am creating this fundraising request on behalf of my mother, Sandy Ciani. Recently my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer that has metastasized to her lymph nodes and her brain. Anyone who truly knows me knows that I do not like to ask for help from anyone and I always try and do things on my own but there comes a time when you have to put your pride away and seek help from friends and family...and I would do anything for my mother so I am reaching out and asking.

My mother raised three children as a single parent. She worked hard all her life to make sure we had what we needed and we didn't go without. Life wasn't easy, especially with having three children by the age of twenty. She is a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is always willing to do whatever she can for her family and friends without wanting or expecting anything in return. She is absolutely nuts (personality wise) and as stubborn as hell...I get that from her, ok all her kids get that from her. I can bet that if asked, everyone of her friends would say what a great person she is. As I look at my mom and see her sick and frail I become an emotional wreck because she has always been a strong woman. She has been through a lot in her life and has overcome some pretty rough situations. I am one proud daughter. I am definitely not use to seeing her like this and I would do everything in my power to make her healthier. Thankfully she has the support of her loving family behind her in this battle and will continue to have it.

We are only a couple months into this diagnosis and we are quickly seeing how much of a financial burden this disease can be. Some of the expenses we have incured so far are gas and toll expenses from daily trips to Upstate Hospital for radiation and appointments, parking garage fees, costly dietary needs as my mother has drastically lost weight and she has to eat specific foods and drink ensure drinks a couple times a day, medication co-pays, numerous expenses from her being admitted twice now, and not that we want to think in a negative way at all but she does not have a life insurance policy to help aid in any final expenses (God forbid that ever happens). She is unable to work, especially now with being on oxygen 24/7 so household bills are starting to pile up which my siblings and I are doing our best to help with. (Of course being my stubborn mother she doesn't want us doing it but too bad mom!!)

Like I said I am not one to ask for help but trust me when I say I truly appreciate you taking the time to even stop and read this.....much less make a monetary donation. I wouldn't even know where to begin to thank you but you would forever be inbedded in my heart <3
