Hope's trip to Rio!
2 years ago, you all helped me get to Uganda to work at Edith's Home orphanage for 2 weeks. This time, I'm asking for some help to get me to Rio in Brazil to work on a project called 'Brazil Community Development in Rio' which is being lead by Real Gap!
On this project I will be with almost 100 beautiful small children working at a daycare centre located in the most scenic of favelas in Rio located at the top of the mountain in Zona Sul. The children are some of the poorest residents of the favela`s who's parents are trying their hardest to scrape a living together and therefore cannot afford day care for their children without these centres. The majority of the parents work in the service industrydoing the jobs that no one else wants to do, earning just enough to provide food for their family, let alone childcare.
This is where I come in, I will be heading out to Brazil to be part of a team serving one of the daycare centers working Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Due to the centres looking after 100 plus children you can imagine the staff are kept more than busy, therefore I will be helping them by getting involved with all childcare duties. I will be improving the care and attention for these kids as permanent staffing is limited. The centres also provide a basic primary education and so I will be involved in some teaching and also programmes related to music, dance and also sports. I aim to encourage the children in their education and build long lasting relationships, I am really glad to have the opportunity to go and hope my experience will stretch and change me as an individual.
In order to go, I have to raise roughly £500 to cover the cost of the trip. If you would like to help me get to Brazil and hopefully make a difference to these childrens lives... then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE donate some money. Doesn't matter how small, as every little helps. Thank you so much! :)
