Hi my name is Lillian Nugent and I am hoping that I can help Joshua Brancatisano get his independence back and reclaim his life. At the beginning of this year Josh was a very active 23 year old who had an insatiable thirst for the outdoors and living life to the full. He loved going driving, adventure trips, hiking, bushwalking, the beach, camping and online gaming.Josh's health took a turn for the worse and his health declined very rapidly with the discovery of 3 lesions on his brain in at the beginning of this year. He had a double brain biopsy and thankfully the result was benign, and Josh began the road to recovery aided by lots of medication. In February of this year, things began looking up and Josh was able to regain some semblance of normality. even jumping off waterfalls. Unfortunately Joshs symptoms got worse and after spending a great deal of time in Westmead hospital he has lost his independence and is now in a wheelchair and needs assistance to be mobile. They say he has developed Rasmussen Syndrome. This autoimmune disease affects the brain and this is irreversible.Josh has applied for a disability pension and we have applied for NDIS funding. It's now August and we are still waiting for some sort of support and access to medical services.I'm asking for help on behalf of Josh, we need to find a carer for Josh and raise some funds for josh to access physiotherapy getowards emmuscle strength.

Thought I’d put up a bit of an update on how Josh is traveling.

Josh has been in Melbourne under new specialists and has been progressing well. Tests have been rerun and we are so pleased to be able to say that 2 conditions have been ruled out.

Josh rang tonight to say that he DOESN’T have Rasmussen Syndrome or Focal Cortical Dysphasia., such a relief.
They are continuing the current line of treatment for inflammation of the brain. Josh’s medications have been adjusted and he is receiving a plasma transfusion once a month.
Josh will be returning home to Campbelltown tomorrow night for 1 month.
At the end of the November he will return to Melbourne for another round of treatment.

Once again on behalf of Joshua our sincere thanks to each and every one of you . Your support has been nothing short of amazing.

Thanks for supporting Joshua, every $, every share and every well wish is greatly appreciated.
Joshua is going into hospital in Melbourne next week under a new professor.
All his tests will be redone and hopefully we will get some clarification/ answers as to what Josh is dealing with.

Josh and I went to visit his mates at GrainCorp, Port Kembla, where he used to work. The guys there are keen to lend their support to Josh. They passed the hat around and raised $355 in the lunchroom. So so grateful.
Many thanks to Nitin Mishra and Tom Zimmerman who organised a lovely lunch and the opportunity for Josh and I to share his journey so far.
They are intending on starting their own fundraiser for Joshua.

Please if you see this post once again share it for Joshua.

Absolutely amazing. We reached our initial goal very quickly.
We are overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone. Whether you just shared or donated as well, you are all making a difference to Joshs goal of getting back on his feet.
In an effort to make life a little easier we purchased a new wheelchair for Josh.
He is able to manoeuvre this one himself, nothing like a bit more independence.
Josh has also flown to Melbourne to see a new neurosurgeon and will be going into hospital on the 15th of September to redo all his tests and hopefully find some answers.

Your help really does make a difference. Please keep sharing.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
Josh's flash new wheels. Thanks.

As we are discovering paying for someone a help isn't cheap, and until we can convince the system of Joshs needs, we need to keep moving forward.
