Minibus for Miniature Horse Therapy

My name is Joey Ogburn and 5 years ago I rescued a miniature horse named Raleigh. When we met, he was scared, and shook whenever a human approached. I knew even then that he would be the perfect miniature therapy horse, and he is! After all, who better to help those who have been through tough times, than a horse who has been through them too. So far, Raleigh has made over 500 therapy visits and isn’t ready to slow down yet. Together Raleigh and I started a not for profit, 501(c)3 organization called Mini Angel Eyes. We have since rescued two more miniature horses, trained and registered them to also do Animal Assisted Therapy. We also rescue and rehabilitate miniature horses and rehome them as therapy or companion horses.
Raleigh loves his once a week visit to ChildHelp. The children there have been through traumatic and horrific experiences. The therapists there schedule appointments with Raleigh so he can help the children heal. During one amazing visit, on of the therapists came to us as we walked in the door and asked us to help urgently. A child we had worked with two weeks prior was being reunited with her father after she had been abducted 2 years earlier. Raleigh stepped up and was a calming source of unconditional acceptance and peace. The visit was a HUGE success. Raleigh helped her make a breakthrough that will allow her to make the journey toward healing. According to the therapist and the investigator, “this would never have happened so quickly without Raleigh!”
Mini Angel Eyes does not and will never charge for a visit. We are 100% volunteer driven and rely on donations to keep us going. Every dollar donated goes to directly to funding the visits we make to children, veterans and senior citizens.
We have just fixed the minivan we use to transport our minis, and would like to purchase a minibus to transport more minis and their volunteer handlers. We are also planning to expand by training more therapy teams so that even more people will be able to experience the healing that these gentle miniature horses can bring.
