Aerospace Business Education Center

Donation protected
We would like to start the Space Coast Aerospace Small Business Co-Op and Education Center so that our area has a permanent home hosting small aerospace business startups using small offices and hanger spaces, and for teaching young students and adults aerospace education courses and classes, hosting aerospace education events like job fairs and promotional events, aerospace business and education lecture series by local aerospace industry leaders, and other events that promote the aerospace industry and education for young students and small businesses.

We will offer courses and classes on subjects related to Aircraft Maintenance, Sheet Metal and Structural Modifications, Aircraft Avionics, and FAA Maintenance Technician Licenses; Spacecraft and Rocket Assembly, Aerospace Vehicle Processing , and SpaceTEC Certifications; Computer Electronics and CompTIA A+ Certification, Microsoft Certification, FCC Technician Certification; Astronomy and Planetary Science, Earth Science, Geology, Chemistry, Basic Math, Meteorology, and related subjects; and finally we will offer GED training for those who need it.

We are located in Titusville Florida next to Kennedy Space Center and there is not enough aerospace business units for small businesses trying to break into the aerospace industry or aerosace education classes in this area except for two universities at least 45-minute drive away from this area. There are several aerospace certification agencies nearby, but they don't offer courses per say, or classes in aerospace education.

Living next to KSC there are not enough opportunities for an aerospace education close enough for local students and adults to take classes or apprentice in the aerospace trades. The cost of education at local universities are expensive and out of the reach of most locals due to a depressed economy from the NASA Space Shuttle program shutdown in 2011. We live in the best place in America to get a career in the Aerospace Industry, but no local education opportunities exist that would enable small businesss to get a start, and offer students, adults, and others an education to qualify for those positions.

We propose to start the Space Coast Aerospace Small Businees Co-Op and Education Center in Titusville Florida to provide Small Business opportunities and Aerospace Education to the local area residence by providing a permanent place to gather for conducting business, provide courses and classes which will provide everything needed to conduct business and education like computers, internet services, tables and chairs, a library, and a commons area for social events. A hanger type building is needed to have a place to conduct business, provide classes to cunduct teaching sessions.

It means a lot to us to see the local students and adults who don't have the opportunities to start a business and get an aerospace education so that they can work in the aerospace Industry locally, get higher wages, and give back to the local community and its economy. Several times this area has become distressed and vacant because of the vanishing NASA programs like Apollo and the Space Shuttle, and the local economy has suffered a lot causing people who have lived here a good part of their lives to re-locate to find jobs or start a business. With the new commercial programs coming to the area in the next few years, it is important right now to be able to provide a location to conduct sall business, and train the local citizens so that they can take positions in the local aerospace industry so that they can not only earn higher wages, but also contribute to the local economy.

The finances we raise from this crowd funding campaign will go toward renting or building a hanger style building to house small businesses and an educaion center depending on the finances raised, for paying utilities, buying computers, educational equipment, tables and chairs, stationary, educational books, and to pay for a very small staff o run the center (A Director and Secretary only). When the funds become available, a bank account in the name of Space Coast Aerospace Business Co-Op and Education Center will be started, and a board will be elected and appointed to oversee the funds and their distribution. The board will be comprised from the heads of major local businesses, and former retired aerospace business persons with an interest in small businesses and education.

We hope to be able to use a lot of local retired aerospace business persons to oversee the administration of the program and educational volunteers to teach courses and classes on a rotating basis (teachers, aerospace managers, and local certification agencies). We also hope to get federal and local grants if possible after the initial funding, and after a permanent facility is established. We plan on giving small business worspaces in the form of small shared offices and hanger space, and to give instruction and certification either for free to low income business startups, or at a significantly reduced price to pay for our overhead and for certifications from third parties.

We would be very grateful and thankful if we could get the support not only from the local community and larger businesses to fund this program. We would also be very grateful for the help from anyone locally, nationalally or otherwise to help us fund this project so that it would be successful. The program would be open to the local community and anyone wishing to move to the area for the small business or educational opportunities it would provide.
