Relocation to stay alive

Donation protected
After countless rapes, beatings, threats on her life, isolation from her friends and family, stolen finances and years of courtroom abuse, Sara barely escaped the hand of her abuser alive. She credits her child for giving her the willpower to escape and has spent seven years fighting in our for her child’s legal protection. She has gone bankrupt in the process and I know she would do it all over again to keep her child safe.

Unfortunately, her fight will not end. She has had to change her identity, her name, her Social Security Number and erase anything that can link her to her past. She has no choice as the prosecutors, lawyers and probation board have made it clear that they know what Sara has come to accept-her abuser will come after her and her child as soon as he is released from prison.

Changing her identity has collateral damage, her work reference will be lost with her old identity something that will make her life much more difficult to rebuild. She will be leaving every friend, every family member, her home and her dog. She has no choice because the man that broke her bones and laugh as he held lighters to her body, the man that raped her as her newborn baby lay next to her, the man that threatened her life with guns and held her and baby hostage is going to be released from prison. As Sara has told me, she has long given up the hope of ever being free but “when he is released my sentence begins”. She will be in a prison of her abusers making but one she is determined to protect her child from.

Sara needs help though, she has been strong and fought every step of the way but now she will be in a strange place with no support, no background (with her new identity). She will be doing everything she can to make this a positive change and a “fresh start” for her child but she is scared. She lives with PTSD, she struggles in her interaction with people as she lives in a state of fear now. I know she will remain strong but I am asking that anyone who can help, please do.

She will need to have money for her everyday expenses but also for the unforeseen costs that come with moving. She fled her abuser with only the clothes on her back and has not had a home or even room of her own ever since. She is starting from beneath scratch. Anything that you can do will mean so much. I know that she has struggled to trust people and remember that there IS good out there. I also know that anything you give, even a dollar and a message of hope will help her heal.
Thank you for your support and taking the time to read this.
