Dave Cuthbertson's Cancer Fund

Donation protected

I am Vicki Kellet and my husband Dave has Acute Lymphoblastic  Leukemia.

He has been under treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital for the last year and a half . His treatment was going well until recently.  It is now becoming uneffective as the leukemia is begining to mutate around the treatment.

His only hope now will be a bone marrow transplant and time is important for it to be effective.  He is in line for the procedure in both Toronto and Buffalo.
His family have all been tested.  He has a partial match available but they are still looking for a more compatible donor.

Out of pocket costs would be high for lodging and living expenses for three months or more if he has to go to Buffalo as I would need to go with him as a full time caregiver and have to provide care for our teenage daughter at home.

If he gets a space at Princess Margaret for the transplant I will still need to take unpaid time off work to care for him and he will have reduced pay on longterm disability. We we will have expenses to and from the hospital on a regular basis and possibly at home nursing care. If the procedure is successful he will still be another two years on long term disability.

The last year and a half of treatment and reduced income on long term disability have already been a major strain on our resourses.

This is a life line in his fight to stay alive. So my daughter still has her daddy and I still have my husband.

I would be grateful for anything you can contribute.

Any funds not used  for Dave's care and expenses will be donated to cancer and stem cell research.
