Support for Marnie
If you know Marnie, you know she is the most loving, caring and giving person who is always there for everyone. It is my hope to raise enough to cover her impending medical costs. Marnie is a full-time working mother and will be in the hospital with her husband at her side for some time. Their three small children are staying with our wonderful mother while they await test results. Whatever you can give would be so appreciated. Blessings to all and thank you in advance.
Dear friends and family,
My beautiful sister Marnie received her angel wings at 4:45am this morning. She went peacefully and in minimal pain. I was able to spend her final hours holding her hand and snuggling with her. My mother and Bryan were with her by her side as she took her last breath. We are lucky to have our entire immediate family present here and her children were able to see her yesterday evening prior to her passing.
Thank you all for your incredible support throughout the past 2.5 years. Marnie has taught all of us what it means to be brave and how far faith can go. She is now out of pain and in our Lord’s arms.
Asking for extra prayer for Marnie tonight. As you most likely know I was lucky enough to come out with Jackson yesterday, and we will be here in CA until the 12th.
Today has been a rough day for Marnie. In fact, most days are getting more and more challenging. Please send up ample amounts of prayer, love and good vibes. We are all trying to lift her up and get her to Houston FINALLY. It will be a rough next few days. Pray for strength and determination for Marnie. Pray for peace for her husband and kids. Pray for my other sister, brother, myself and parents that we are used in whatever way best helps Marnie.
Also, now is not a great time for visitors. As much as we’d all LOVE to see your faces Marnie is our #1 priority. Each breath is a struggle so please be patient.
We have appreciated all of you so much throughout this horrendous ordeal. We will reach out soon.
Blessings to you all, and thank you,
The lesions in her lungs have been blocking her airways so she was not getting enough oxygen. At first they thought she may have had clots, but thankfully a CT scan showed that wasn't the case, THANK GOD. For now she is still in the hospital on oxygen. She's okay when she's lying down, but the moment she stands she can't breathe. It is heartbreaking.
I was able to speak with her this morning however, and although she was coughing quite a bit, she was in good spirits as always. They are trying desperately to find a clinical trial to be accepted into, so please keep the suggestions coming. It is not as easy as one might think as a patient has to qualify since all forms of colon cancer are different.
Thank you all for your generous support and for your loving words of encouragement. My whole family had a bit of a mental breakdown yesterday, but the support from literally thousands of people, as well as our extreme faith in the Lord has helped us through yet another challenging day.
For now, please continue your prayers, please donate if you are able, and above all, please thank God for the way he has been at work in so many people's lives thanks to our sweet Marnie and her undying faith in Him.
Blessings to you all,
Oh my gosh. I know it’s been a while since I’ve given everyone a Marnie update. I apologize. The reason is because it’s so much easier to update with good news than with no news or bad news.
I just had a very hard conversation with Marnie. The doctors have put her on a new form of chemo that she takes in the form of the pill. She started this yesterday hoping to God that it wouldn’t be as bad as the chemo she was previously on, it turns out it is just as bad if not worse.
Medically speaking they have pretty much come to the end of their rope with treatments so now we are trying to put all our trust in clinical trials. But dear Marnie and her family are so stressed out. It is hard enough to function to get through the day without having the stress trying to find a way to save your life.
What I’m asking for today is support in all forms. Pray and don’t stop praying for Marnie‘s mental and physical well-being as well as her family’s. If you live nearby, please offer your help (don’t let her tell you no). You have all been so incredibly gracious financially, but if you can spare anything else to help with the medical bills and their life expenses please consider donating where you can. Even five dollars helps (and she might kill me for even mentioning that).
Being so far away, I feel so helpless, so I feel this is at least one thing I can do, to help spread the word and to keep you all informed about our sweet Marnie, who we all know and who we all love tremendously.
She will most likely be sick for her son’s birthdays on the 23rd and 26th, and for Halloween, and for those of you who have been around the mountains during Halloween you know that Marnie and her family are known for throwing a super awesome Halloween party every year. So this is obviously hard on them especially during this time of year.
For now they are researching, or at least trying to research when she feels up to it, clinical trials all around the country, which means that yes, there is a very real possibility that they may have to uproot their lives in Lake arrowhead. If you know anything about clinical trials please reach out to me.
In the meantime, thank you so much for your prayers and every type of support you have given Marnie, her family and our extended family. We truly need a miracle.
From the bottom of my heart I am thinking you. With love and many blessings,

Mary Beth, Your beautifully written update has me in tears. I don't even know Marnie that well but I do know her from having lived in Lake Arrowhead and dined at Belgian Waffle, know your parents from living in Hamiltair & am Liz Wilcut Connolly's mother-in-law. I pray for Marnie daily and will continue to do so as I know what an amazing young woman she is.
Marnie the Howe family's thoughts are with you in your fight, stay strong!
So incredibly sad to have heard this news. Certainly not the outcome we have all hoped and prayed for. Marnie and her beautiful smile will always hold a special place in our hearts. She was kind and funny and extremely loved. You will be missed but, so glad you are at peace. Continued prayers for your husband, children and family. Marc & Stacey
My heart is broken for you all. I pray for peace in your hearts and strength in your souls. A beautiful woman. I’m so sorry.
I am so so sorry to read this. Marnie was one hell of a fighter. God bless her heart. Our thoughts are with all the family at this awful time. Xx
Mary Beth, My name is Deanna and I work with Shellie Morton McDonald and have been following a long throughout Marnies journey as Marnie and my mother were diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer at around the same time. Chemo has not been able to keep up with my mothers growth, and like Marnie it has grown into her Lungs. Its like they are on the same trajectory. My mothers oncologist removed her from Chemo about 4 months ago and got her into a KEYTRUDA immunotherapy clinical trial as my mom tested positvie for some gene and the cancer is Colon and spread to her lung. Since removing her from Chemo, my mother has made a pretty miraculous recovery, as Im sure you well know how sick it can make you. Right now we dont know if the Keytruda immunotherapy is working as she is getting her PET scan scheduled today to see the progress. Anyway, I thought I would be remiss if I didnt mention it. I was able to meet Marnie when she came up for a visit to our pool in the summer and was touched by her spirit. I wish you all, all the best. Its important for us that have loved ones with this atrocious disease to remember we are not alone.
Marnie, you and your family are in our prayers. xoxo Marc and Stacey
Continuing to pray with you for your miracle.
