San Angelo Roller Girls Need Help!

Hi!
Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your busy day to hear our plea. We are the San Angelo Roller Girls (SARG)! Or you may know us by our team name, The Thunder Kittens. SARG is a skater-owned and volunteer-run league with a dream to bring San Angelo, Texas the fun and excitement of Roller Derby. We are a competitive, nonprofit athletic organization, providing our members with disciplined training and instruction for national level competition. We promote safety, teamwork and outreach programs to keep the community involved in the growing sport of roller derby. League membership is open to any person interested in assisting, participating, or otherwise promoting the positive image of the League. The league was founded several years ago, but things are changing. Since we acquired a banked track, we are now able to offer training in both banked and flat track derby. We are growing faster than ever and gaining national recognition! The only thing is, we don't have the financial foundation to get things moving. You know what they say, you need to have money to make money. And boy, are we learning that lesson!
We have successfully reduced overhead by asking our skaters to purchase their own gear and uniforms, by paying monthly dues to fund indoor practices, and practicing outdoors whenever possible (where skating is free!) Unfortunately, that saves the league money, but does not make the league money. Recently, we have raised money by selling booster cards and providing sponsorship opportunities for local businesses. But it is difficult to cultivate sponsorships without having large venues to advertise for those sponsors. The more we can bout in legit venues, the more sponsors we get, the more we can play in legit venues, and it just keeps cycling until we can fund ourselves! We just need a little boost to get the cycle going.

Our fans love when they get to see us play at real venues like the Foster Communications Coliseum here in San Angelo, but it costs $3000 for us to reserve the space and pay for insurance. WOWZA! That's why we are reaching out to our friends, families, and amazing fans to give a little to help us reserve our spot at the coliseum! Help us, we're poor!
Last year we debuted our banked track and made history in San Angelo. The attendance was beyond what we imagined. We fully expect to top those numbers if we can just get the money we need to reserve our space. We love San Angelo and we want to make our bouts the best they can be by being in a real venue. If we don't make this money by the end of May, we will lose the opportunity to set up our banked track at the coliseum and lose the headway we are making nationwide with the other banked leagues who are just starting to take us seriously. And we will lose the opportunity to show our current and future sponsors what we can do for them. We really need this!
