Jeremy and Lauren Wallaert
Jeremy and Lauren have decided with much consideration that amputation will be the next step for Jeremy. He could potentially save his leg, but it will be a three year process that could also end with amputation. It will be a below knee amputation and Jeremy could be walking with a prosthetic 4-6 weeks after surgery! They are ready to move on and start getting their lives back.
The amputation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15th. We ask that you keep the Wallaerts in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Jeremy and Lauren's strength and love for each other will get them through this.
They will be asking for help with the meal train after they are home from the hospital. The link will be posted below and shared on Facebook. They know that so many of you have helped them tremendously, and it is hard for them to keep asking for help. But with Lauren and Jeremy's doctors appointments, Hailey's school, and trying to keep up with everyday chores it been very difficult.
Jeremy and Lauren have had no income in the past six months and they need any help they can get. Even if it's just a dollar, it adds up! We ask that you continue to support the Wallaerts in any way you can.
They would like to sincerely thank everyone who has donated to their campaign. It means so much to them and it has not gone unnoticed. The amount of help they have received from their family, friends, and community is what has gotten them through this nightmare.
What a journey. I wake up everyday in the same hospital bed, in the same amount of pain. Still in shock we survived this shit. The community coming together as it has to stand behind us. I love all of you. You all have my deepest respect and if anyone ever needs a thing. I mean even someone to talk to. I'm here. Way too many to tag but you guys know who you are. I was presented with these few things the other night and man they hit home. How frikken awesome. I love you guys.
It's been 17 days since I've seen my husband. In the seven years we've been together this is the longest we've been apart. Right now it feels like our pain will never end.
In the last two days I've experienced more pain than I have in my entire life. I used a TENS unit, after I shut it off yesterday it got my nerves going. Within minutes I started experiencing what feels like a wave of electricity going back and forth across my leg.
I've laid in bed and cried for hours, my pain meds yesterday wouldn't even touch my pain. My doctor gave me Valium and it made me sleep for about thirty minutes. I woke up with the same pain. Next they gave me MS Contin which allowed me to sleep pain free for most of the night.
When I woke up this morning the pain was back. We tried the MS Contin but it did nothing. I was given Valium again and slept on and off until 4:30 this afternoon. I was able to shower and have dinner with my Mom and Hailey tonight, but when I returned to my room the pain was back. I've been doing my best to ignore it and keep busy until I go to sleep.
Please keep Jeremy in your thoughts, his surgery will be all day Thursday. He's been in so much pain, he's been in the same position for over two weeks. He's been dropped out of his wheel chair, had his amputated foot dropped, his ankle twisted, and seems to be having more issues every day. I love you Jeremy. I hope that your surgery goes perfectly and that we can be together soon.
UPDATE FROM Lauren Wallaert with Jeremy Dale. 3 hrs · Jeremy and I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and love. We are truly touched, and so grateful for everyone's kind words and donations. Jeremy will be having another surgery today. They were able to pin his leg but he will still need further amputation. Please keep him in your prayers today. We are at different hospitals and it has been very scary not knowing what is going on with each other. Thank you David Sattin for our phones so we can keep in touch. I am still waiting for a surgery date. My leg was amputated above or below my knee, I'm still too scared to look. I will be sedated today so I can have my leg dressing changed. My hip bone and femur are also broken on the same leg. I have bruising on my lungs and some difficulty breathing, but my breathing tube was removed. We we truly lucky to be alive. Thank you Jeremy for swerving so the SUV didn't hit us head on. You saved us. Thank you Jeremy Roach for the tourniquet and keeping me alive. We have some amazing friends and the motorcycle community has been truly amazing to us. We are trying very hard to stay positive and thinking of our beautiful children. We are incredibly lucky to be alive.
