Help Researcher Buy an EEG

£1,020 of £10,000 goal

Raised by 2 people in 27 months
I am a Cognitive Neuroscience student at Westminster University who is also training as a Neurofeedback practitioner. I need to raise funds to purchase a proper, research-grade EEG suitable for use in my training and for my final year research project.

The equipment I need to purchase is the actual EEG recording machine itself, a selection of caps in different sizes, plus spare leads and accessories. You can see a picture of the system I have been using at the training workshops here:  http://www.mitsar-medical.com/eeg-system/

Ideally, I need to have funds in place by the end of August 2017, so I can purchase the equipment ready to start my research project.

As a mature student who has had to fight tooth and nail to make it to higher education at all, I need to get a move on if I am going to have any chance of a career in neuroscience research and/or neurotherapy. Having the right professional equipment will be huge step forward.

Please consider funding any amount that you are able to, and I will be eternally grateful.

The final year research project is now upon us! I will need to start making EEG recordings imminently. As an emergency measure, I have arranged to borrow equipment belonging to a friend who uses the same EEG system as what I have trained on (shown in the picture). However, this is only a very temporary solution and going forward I will need to have my own equipment! Please consider making a donation, even if it's a fiver, and share, share, share!

Here is a paper (uploaded to academia.edu) I wrote for a piece of coursework on mindfulness. I had no choice about the subject matter (mindfulness), and the stress questionnaire was a team effort with my classmates, but the use of the emWave to measure HRV coherence was my own input. Just imagine what I could be doing if I had access to professional laboratory equipment, rather than a £160 gadget. Any donation, however small, would be a constructive step to making this a reality.

Hi, it's been a while since I posted an update, but this campaign is still very much alive and the equipment is still greatly needed. I am interested in pursuing a research project in the area of EEG correlates of psychometric intelligence, which although excites members of the public with whom I have spoken, as a research topic it seems to have received comparatively little interest. Help me buck the trend!

A slightly belated update, but great news. Last month, the University informed me that I had made the Dean's List for very high grades in the academic year just gone, and had also won the faculty's Student Excellence Award for high achievement. Please help support my hard work by making a donation towards this campaign.
