In August 2016, my dear friend Kay received some news that none of us will ever want to hear "Your husband is in hospital in Dubai and has brain cancer".
Unless you have personally experienced this, the fear, the shock and such intense emotions all coming together in a matter of minutes is something most of us will never understand.
Kay and her sister Denise travelled over to Dubai to bring Peter home. He was then taken to Prince Of Wales Hospital where he was again diagnosed with Brain cancer and was told he would need to have surgery and other therapies to treat it.

Before this, Peter was fit and healthy, intelligent, funny, kind and always the life of the party. But brain cancer is indiscriminate. It strikes a person down in the prime of their life, usually with no warning signs and no risk factors.
Peter has now come through a huge 8hr surgery under Charlie Teo. Vital signs are good and he was happy to see Kay and his Mum and Dad.
I'm sure it will help Kay's peace of mind knowing that Charlie Teo is in charge of Peter's treatment and that she will approach this with the same positive attitude that she applies to everything. But the road forward is long and full of twists and treatments to try and help Peter gain some time.
I'm the months to come, Kay and Peter will have plenty of medical bills and living expenses to pay. As you can imagine, financially this will be debilitating for Kay as she will need to remain home with Peter to ensure he is cared for.
I'm sure their family will be helping to meet their immediate needs, however I know it is difficult for Kay to be totally reliant on others all the time.
I have known Kay since I was 19 years old and I would like to try and help her and Peter to relieve the added pressure by being able to meet their financial commitments. To do this they will need your support!
