The ladies of the Rho Epsilon chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. at LSU would like your help to raise funds for families and students in the Baton Rouge area who have been sadly affected by the recent flooding.

We hope and pray to raise $10k and will donate $500 to each family or student to help with the financial burden that they will face while trying to recover from the flood. We hope to get these funds to the victims immediately so they can quickly start their journey to recovery. Funds will be given in the form of twenty Visa gift cards. One card for each family/student. They will also receive supplies we've collected through our supply drive.

This cause is special to the ladies of Rho Epsilon because Baton Rouge is our home and many of our friends and community members have become victims of this flood. We want to go beyond our words of encouragement and make a bigger impact. We too are students and are members of families and are sharing in their struggle.

We will be more than thankful for any amount you can donate or even if you can get the word out and spread the news of our action to raise money for the victims.

Thank you and God bless.

Good Afternoon, my name is Mikeisha Mitchell and I am the treasure of the Rho Epsilon chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. I would like to thank everyone for their donations to the Baton Rouge Flood Relief GoFundMe account. We are thankful for each and every donation that will allow us to help those who have been affected by the recent flood. I would also like to thank those who constantly posted the GoFundMe page on their social media. Special thanks to CNN, Fox, WBRZ, and WWL4 for sharing our efforts to the local communities and the nation.
I will be the administrator for withdrawing funds from the GoFundMe account. A designated bank account has been set up strictly for these donations. The donations will be distributed to those in need via a Visa Master card in the amount of $500. We have an application that will require verifiable information from the applicant to ensure that we are helping those who have truly been affected. We have begun to send the applications to those who have contacted us indicating that they are in need of assistance. Reviewing of the applications will begin on Monday August 29, 2016. Once all applications have been reviewed and verified those who qualify for funds will receive additional information to receive their gift card. Thanks to all of you, we have enough funds to assist 41 families, exceeding our initial goal of assisting 20 families. If you or anyone you know has been affected by the recent flood and would like to be considered for assistance please email mikeisham15@gmail.com.

Once the campaign has been closed, funds will be processed in preparation for dispersion. Once processed, the chapter will purchase $500 Visa gift cards to disseminate amongst victims who have reached out for help. The influx of donations has allowed for us to help more families, and therefore, we will be able to assist a much wider range of families and students.

In order to distribute the funds to those in need, $500 Visa gift cards will be purchased and assigned members will directly deliver the gift cards to the families listed in the attached spreadsheet. Gift cards will only be delivered upon confirmation with a beneficiary through either call or email and there will be a follow-up (again through call or email) to confirm the gift card was received. Designated members delivering cards will also have a sheet for the beneficiary to sign upon accepting the gift card as another form of confirmation.

On behalf of the Rho Epsilon Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., we are pleased to announce that in a matter of 3 days, we have reached our goal of $10,000 to divide amongst 20 families. Having raised this in so little time, we would like to extend the accepting of donations in an attempt to donate to more victims. We would like to thank everyone for donating and sharing our post to spread the message! You are all immensely appreciated.

I have contributed to your fund and have always wondered just how do these organizations distribute the benefits to the victims. Do you give them money, buy them food, supplies, etc.?
