Stevie Kicks Cancer Fund

In the spring of 2014, Stephanie "Stevie" Capece and her fiancé, P.J., were planning their wedding when abnormal bleeding and pain prompted a doctor's visit. Then came the earth-shattering moment of Stevie being diagnosed with cervical cancer came. A hysterectomy revealed Stage 1 squamous cell carcinoma. Twelve weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatment followed, but Stevie handled it like a trooper. Finally, the treatments were finished and life went on. A beach wedding was planned, not just for the union of Stevie and P.J., but for Stephanie and her daughter and P.J. and his sons.
They were married in a beautiful beach ceremony in September, 2015. Their happiness could not be tarnished by the news they would receive only one week after the special day - the cancer had returned in two areas near the ureter and nerve, giving Stevie pain and numbness in her right leg. Three more months of chemo followed. This time Stephanie would lose her hair, but not her beauty. This round of treatment would be more challenging than before. In the end, the treatment helped but the cancer was not gone completely. Stephanie was then placed on maintenance chemo while waiting for a trial to open. Stevie was eventually placed on the trial drug, but it did not slow her cancer. Stevie continues to battle as she attempts to find another course of therapy. Unfortunately, Stevie is not able to do the one thing she holds dearly, puttting on her beloved skates and teaching her girls on the ice; this breaks her heart.
