Sebastian Needs Top Surgery

Listen, I know you've seen a million and one gofundme pages for trans men needing top surgery. I know how easy it is, even if you're trans yourself, to ignore things like this because there are just so many. But LISTEN. These things NEED to get off my chest as soon as possible - and I'm not saying other trans men don't deserve it, too, but I'm in a very particular situation.
My name is Sebastian, and I'm currently living at the Gary Job Corps center for the Corrections trade. The reasons I am here are:
- My anxiety is too severe to allow me to have the sort of job you can get without experience... and I have literally no job experience.
- Life at home was incredibly stressful and impossible to survive in.
- I've always wanted to work in Law Enforcement, practically my entire life, and this was the first opportunity I've ever seen that could actually get me there.
- Having this experience will make it much easier for me to join the San Antonio Police Academy right afterward.
- Being here puts me a whopping 5 hours closer to my boyfriend (of nearly 2 years), and thus is a huge stepping stone towards us finally moving in together.
I want to get those reasons out there so you can understand why if I can't get top surgery relatively soon, all this may have been a waste.
Here's the thing: being in Corrections requires tri-weekly physical training. And the other thing is, I can handle it. I can absolutely do most of what we're required to do - but a HUGE problem is the fact that I have to bind my chest.
I can push past pain, but I can't push past not being able to breathe. And the more I push myself - because I'm NOT giving up on Corrections after all this time and I'm far too dysphoric to not bind - the more I risk seriously hurting myself.
For obvious reasons, at the very least, I absolutely cannot join the SAPD without getting top surgery first. And that could put too much time in between me graduating JC and having any kind of income.
I have some money in the bank already, I have transportation, I have a person who will care for me during recovery, and I have up to 6 months of allowed medical leave from Job Corps.
If I can just raise enough money to get top surgery within a few months, the rest of my trade will be a THOUSAND times easier, in terms of both my ability to accomplish it and my health. I would have $1K from graduating JC to contribute to the apartment my boyfriend will likely already be living in, and I would be able to join the Academy immediately.
Getting these things off my chest is the boost nearly EVERY aspect of my life needs right now.
