Alex Needs To Finish College

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Alex. I am a social-justice-oriented feminist poet and writer majoring in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with a minor in Writing. I am finally going to graduate Oregon State University with my bachelor's degree in June.

If.

I have had a lot of difficulty with mental illness interfering with my ability to do my college classwork. So it's taken rather a while for me to get within one year of graduation. I am determined that I will graduate in June and I will not permit my mental illnesses to interfere with that. However. My eligibility for federal student loans is not going to extend to spring term. I expect to pay most of ten credits' worth of tuition from the money I expect from federal student loans for fall and winter terms in excess of the tuition I owe for those terms. That said, in spring term I need to take fourteen credits, and I haven't yet accounted for winter or spring textbooks.

Goal #1: $2600 by the beginning of April. This should cover the remainder of my tuition, plus an estimated $150/course in textbooks.

Goal #2: an additional $2200 early enough that there are still hotel rooms in the vicinity of Corvallis, OR such that I can book one Wednesday-ish through Saturday or Sunday nights the weekend of June 17, graduation day. I am pretty sure that will be enough money for a round-trip flight from Philadelphia or Baltimore to Portland, plus the hotel room, plus a rental car that will get me from Portland to Corvallis and back (and maybe to other places in the general vicinity; for instance, there's somebody in Seattle I would dearly love to meet in person!), plus food and gas and whatnot on the trip.

Goal #3: an additional $440–$2600 At Some Point. The $440 is for required texts and important reference works for the program of study I intend to apply for basically the moment I have my Oregon State University diploma in hand. The $2600 above that is for books recommended for that program of study.

If you wonderful people get me past a total of $7400, any additional money will go towards paying down my debt.

This is important to me because I don't want to find myself one term from graduation with no way to pay for the last few credits' worth of tuition; that would be utterly heartbreaking. I would very much like to have the opportunity to walk at my college graduation (and to meet in person my friends in Portland and Seattle). And I very much want to complete the program of study I plan to apply for after graduation, as that program is in line with What I Want To Do With My Life.

Please donate if you are able and willing. I will be overjoyed and ridiculously thankful.
