Darlington, WI Dive/Water Rescue

We are looking for funding for our dive search and rescue team in order to purchase a boat and sonar system.  We've got 8 members certified to dive and over 14 others trained in various water rescue, and will continue training for more detailed underwater and water rescue operations.  Darlington Fire Dive Team is also available for mutual aid in many counties in Southwest Wisconsin, therefore has the potential of performing search and recovery in multiple counties.  The sonar and boat system would allow our recovery team to be as efficient as possible, especially in waters where visibility is extremely low, less than 1 ft, which is typical in our area.  Having a better idea of where to begin looking keeps our divers safer and gives us a very good probability of being successful in our attempts.  It would also allow our dive team to not only find articles underwater, but allow a faster closure for families of victims who had been overcome by the water.  
Much of Darlington Fire Department funding comes from area tax dollars and federal and state grants.  We've been fortunate enough to service an area of generous donations for equipment as well.  However, most of the tax dollars, and federal and state grants are only able to be used for 'every-day' firefighting equipment, such as SCBA's, structural firefighting gear, etc.  There is no money leftover for anything extra.  For this reason, we're looking for any help we can get for extra funding.  Thank you and stay safe.
