Help our Families in Ecuador

We Oswaldo and Eugenia from Toronto, On, have set up this page in an effort to help our families and friends affected by the devastating earthquake that hit part of Ecuador this past weekend. As some of you may know, us, like many other families, have direct relatives that have been affected by this tragedy. Our grandmother, along with several other family members and friends in the province of Manabi, have had their entire homes crumble into bits and pieces. While we are thankful that they are still alive, we are also deeply saddened by the death of two other relatives who perished after their house collapsed in the city of Jama. Like them, there are many more who were not fortunate enough; in some cases, even entire families have fallen as casualties to this horrific tragedy. Our goal in creating this page is to raise funds that will allow us to provide relief in different forms. Ideally we are trying to raise financial funds to buy basic necessities such as food and water for people in immediate need; while this will not heal their wounds, it will at least put a smile in several faces and surely feed some starving tummies. We just want to help in a more direct way until the chaos calms down. We are also part of the many who still haven't heard from other relatives. How will your donations reach our families in need? On top of clothing donations we have gathered, a group of family and friends here in Canada have collaborated to assist one of us in buying an airfare to Ecuador. In this trip, the intention is to bring luggages with useful clothing donations, and purchasing food and water (among other urgent necessities) in the city of Guayaquil in order to transport it into our hometown of El Carmen - a place that is currently sheltering a great number of people that have been evacuated from more devastated zones such as Pedernales - the epicentre of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Saturday night. In order to ensure that every single dollar will be used towards helping people in real need, we will personally monitor and document the same.  Every dollar spent in this cause will be documented; not a single cent will be used for personal gains in any way. Here are pictures of the town our families live in along with takes of younger relatives that are currently in need. We thank you sincerely for any efforts, as every and any dollar counts and will add up. We will use this to help our families rebuild from the bottome up as they have lost so much. With our hearts in our hands we also ask that if you choose to follow a different path, please do so by donating to any other charity or organization gathering funds for the same cause.
