Jacqueline's Medical Fund

Jacqueline Henry (Bouvier) is a loving wife to Brent, an incredible friend, and an amazing mother to a beautiful little girl, Teagan. As a young woman, Jackie lost both of her parents (2005-Linda, and 2008- George). She had unbelievable strength in overcoming such sorrow and hardship.

Jackie began feeling ill in the spring. After a few months of tests, biopsies (which came back clean), and scans, Jackie underwent surgery for continued stomach problems she was experiencing. At that time, doctors suspected cancer and their suspicions were confirmed when they went in for surgery.

In early June, Jackie was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer (the same diagnosis her mother had). She had a partial gastrectomy and a J-tube (feeding tube) placed on 6/7/16. This surgery removed part of her stomach, as well as all traces of cancer.  Her medical team also did genetic testing (for Teagan) to see if her diagnosis is related to Linda's. Results on that test are pending.

To prepare her to undergo chemotherapy, she underwent a second surgery on 7/22/16, where a port was placed for chemotherapy infusions. Her appetite had returned, so doctors also removed the J-tube at the same time. She had a bad reaction to the anesthesia, and suffered from some nausea following the surgery, which landed her back in the hospital in Chester County.

On 8/4/16, Jackie had severe abdominal pain and was rushed to UPenn, where she underwent emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction. She is still in the hospital, fighting a bad infection (sepsis). She is on a few blood pressure medications to keep her blood pressure up and is being monitored closely, because she had a very high temperature (104.2 degrees) early in the weekend. She is presently intubated, to be sure she stays comfortable. Jackie will need a follow up surgery to close her abdomen, as doctors were unable to close it on Thursday due to swelling. This surgery is scheduled for Monday, 8/8/16. Discussions with her oncologist and medical team at UPenn Abramson Cancer Center are ongoing to prepare her to begin chemotherapy, but this latest setback will delay the slated timeline.

As a result of this diagnosis, Jackie will have to receive lifelong chemotherapy, regardless of remission or relapse status. To help relieve the burden of medical bills for her treatment from her husband and family and give her time to spend with her daughter and husband without added stress about finances, we are beginning a GoFundMe account. All donations will be routed directly to Brent Henry to help offset Jackie’s continued medical expenses. We understand that finances are tight for many and, if you cannot donate, ask that you say a prayer or send wishes for Jackie as she undergoes treatment.

Updates regarding Jackie's care will primarily be found on her CaringBridge account http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jackiehenry
Jackie's close friends Amanda, Alexa (Lettie), and Laura will provide most updates, in close communication with Brent and Jackie. We'll post new information about Jackie's treatment as it develops on CaringBridge. You can leave any messages or well wishes for Jackie on her CaringBridge page or here on GoFundMe. You're welcome to reach out to us with any questions or if you would like to offer assistance in another way.
