Service Dog/Disabled Owner In Need
My name is Cindy Lance, and I'm trying to help my disabled friend, Nicole Bostic. On July 30th, Nicole's car got broken into, and approximately $800 worth of equipment needed for her service dog was stolen. The heartlessness of this crime is beyond comprehension to me. Nicole is on a limited income and she is very distraught because she can't afford to replace what was stolen from her. She is a graduate student with student loans, and also works part time as a dog trainer. Here is a list of some of the items that were taken and their cost: Alpha Dog tactical service vest-mobility with handle, $225, Omni K9 reward custom gear, $100, Remote training e-collar, $300. Many other items were taken, including items she needs for her job as a dog trainer. I just wanted to list a few of the items that were stolen. Nicole is disabled and heavily relies on her dog daily. Her dog is not only her best friend, but he serves as her medical equipment as well. He is able to do tasks for her and help provide her with stability when she's unable to stand on her own. His name is Goji (named after the Goji berry). He is 4 years old and is a purebred Belgian Malinois. I want to make it clear that Nicole did not ask me to start this campaign, I offered to do this for her. Due to the unfortunate high amount of fraud and identity theft on the internet, transparency is key. Nicole has agreed to supply any information and documentation needed or requested in order to prove that a) this legitimately happened to her, b) she is genuinely disabled, c) she genuinely has a service animal. Nicole has stated she is willing to supply anything needed in order to verify authenticity, as well as need. Nicole immediately filled a police report after this happened. Unfortunately, police normally do not assist in these types of matters. However, Nicole made a brief post to her Facebook page about what happened, and the local police saw that post. They offered to help, and they are now working closely with her, which she is very grateful for. Sadly most victims of property crimes/theft are not fortunate enough to receive additional assistance from authorities. I have also contacted local news outlets and am waiting for replies. It will cost approximately $800 to replace all that was stolen, but I'm going to set the goal for $1000 because PayPal, WePay, and Go Fund Me take a commission from every donation received. Let's band together and show Nicole that there are kind, caring, generous people in the world who want to help. I'm going to start this campaign with a $20 donation. Donations of any size are welcome, my gift is not intended to be some type of guideline. If you cannot donate, that's fine. Please just pray for Nicole and Goji. This has been a very violating experience for her and has caused her a lot of stress. Thank you kindly for taking the time to read about Nicole's and Goji's story. Please feel contact either one of us if you have any questions or concerns.
