Raising money for Ernestina Nunez

$4,881 of $50k goal

Raised by 124 people in 8 months
ST
Richard Newberry, owner of Spooners Tires and Auto Repair, donated a car to Ernestina Nunez. She was going through some difficult times. Ms Nunez felt she didn't have anything else to live because her son, who was a former Marine and suffered from PTSD, took his own life almost a year ago. Richard wanted to make a positive change in Ms. Nunez life by letting her know there is always something to live for. Help the Spooners Crew raise funds for Ms Nunez to get her new car on the road!! Thank you for the support!!!

I met Tina a month ago, and she also touched me. She is a very humble and sweet lady. Her story actually gets worse, as she was also prevented from closure of her son. He was married and her daughter in law was terrible to Tina before his death. Forced out her the house they shared. The daughter in law broke the news to Tina in a cold manner of fact way. She also said she would hold the body so Tina could say her last goodbyes to him, and had her believing she would. Tina rushed to him from out of state to find she had cremated his body. She is emotionally in great pain. I want to thank all of you for your generosity, compassion, and best wishes. When she was given the car, she came home and was shocked that a kind stranger offered to help her. She did not want to accept it and the kind gentleman insisted. She parked in front of the house and was stunned by what happened. It breaks my heart to see her so sad from the loss of her beloved son and the tragedy that ended it. It brings me to tears to see her hugging his picture and seeing the tears and sobs when she talks about her son. She has maintained his cell phone active in the believe the pictures of him would disappear if she did. She is a hard worker, she works with my spouse too. She is very sweet and kind. I can see a glimmer of happiness in her from the kindness she is seeing. God bless you all, you have touched her heart and is giving her strength to continue living. Thank you. Tonight will sit down and read all the messages from everyone.

Valery Casler, maybe the goal was set so high in hopes of helping Ms. Nunez with other things in her life. Obviously, if she couldn't afford a $600 car (or even $300), she must be really struggling. I can imagine she doesn't make very much money working as a school custodian. Bless her heart. I pray the $50,000 is doubled to $100,000!! Then she really could buy her a house and new car and just work to pay her utilities. That would be such a blessing. Mr. Newberry, you give me reason to believe there are still wonderful people in the world! God bless you!

Completely unbelievable at some of these comments. It doesn't matter what the number is listed. Ugh. People please STOP the rudeness really. I'm so sorry for your loss. God bless the man that gave this woman a car and set this page up for her. I pray that at some point you find peace and your days get easier.

First off, I am so sorry for the loss of your son. But wanted to say thank you to your son for serving. To all the rude nasty comments on here, seriously?? If this was just about money, I don't think the news would have covered the story. Their are some people in this world that actually do care about other people (including strangers) and want to make this world a better place. Some people are just truly heartless by their negative comments. I hope people/business help you to raise more than your goal. NO mother should have to go through what she has.

They probably have enough even now for TT&L, but anything extra will help greatly as she probably has a lot of other expenses as a school janitor those folks are also not paid much (like a lot of others)..Best wishes to her & thanks to the folks at Spooners..

May I suggest that you lower the goal? I understand that it is just a number and that you are doing a great thing, but this will turn people off and they may not done. Best of luck with the fundraising. :)
