Hi Family & Friends!
As most know I am a special education teacher at Kennedy Elementary School. I teach in a self-contained Moderate Special Education class—grades K through 2nd. This will be my second year teaching and I could not have found a more rewarding career. I enjoy every aspect of my job and truly look forward to going every morning.
This year I have 13 kiddos. All of my kids' needs are very different and very unique. I have many who are nonverbal. We all know how wonderful technology is these days. For my students in particular, technology can help them communicate their needs, wants, and opinions. Communication is so important for my kids to become independent—their ultimate goal. I am not one to ask for things but when it comes to my students being successful I will do just about anything. So, I am wanting to get two classroom iPads. These iPads will be used in the classroom only. I will be using these iPads to enhance communication with the hundreds of communication apps Apple has to offer. For my talkers, I will be using the iPad to enhance their learning with the hundreds of educational apps out there. With technology the possibilities are endless.
If you are able, please consider donating to help reach my goal of 2 iPads before Christmas Break. I promise I will keep everyone up to date with my students’ success and achievements along the way while using technology. It is going to be a great year!
