Send Darrell's Dad to Rio

$8,200 of $7,500 goal

Raised by 152 people in 19 months
While traveling to Philly on 7/26, Liz met Ellis Hill.  He was driving an Uber and shared a true story about his son, Darrell Hill, who has qualified for the 2016 US Olympic Team.  Darrell is a world class athlete who competes in Track & Field in the Shot Put event.  Born in Darby, Pennsylvania, Hill competed for Penn State University and recently graduated with a degree in Rehabilitation and Human Service.

As a proud father, Ellis dreams of traveling to Rio to see his son compete.  Please help make this American dream come true.

Thank you for your generosity!
GO TEAM USA and GO DARRELL!!!!

In one hour, Ellis Hill will arrive in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is excited to join others, from around the world, to experience the beauty, culture, and charm of Rio and to proudly cheer as his son competes in Shot Put on Thursday, August 18, 2016.

This community effort demonstrates the "Butterfly Effect of Kindness." Originally described by Edward Norton Lorenz, the butterfly effect suggests that small actions can have large effects. Here, a conversation in an Uber ride has led to world wide interest about kindness, generosity, and determination. Let's keep this effort moving forward and make other dreams come true.

Once more, we are grateful to our 150+ financial contributors, and in kind support from the Kovacs family, Clincierge and Gray Consulting International, Uber, NBC10 Philly, the United Airlines pilot who donated the flights to Rio, and TMP who donated the return flights, Lawrence Hall Chicago for idea generation, and others who have made this dream possible.

Go Darrell and Go Team USA!!!

Thank you again for your generous support of this fund to "Send Darrell's Dad to Rio."

After meeting our goal, we now plan to withdraw the funds. With the permission of Ellis Hill, Liz Willock will receive the funds and allocate them specifically for: 1) plane ticket, 2) hotel, 3) meals, 4) travel expenses (ex: passport, sightseeing, tips), 5) Olympic souvenirs, 6) travel incidentals.

We are grateful to our 150+ financial contributors, and in kind support from the Kovacs family, Clincierge and Gray Consulting International, Uber, NBC10 Philly, and others who have made this dream possible.

The Shot Put event is set for Thursday, August 18th. Go Team USA!!!

Send Darrell's Dad to Rio has reached 53% of its goal. Thanks to each of you for your meaningful donation.

This community effort demonstrates the true American spirit of generosity, determination, and kindness to others. Ellis is still in the process of obtaining his passport, his flight has been identified, and his lodging in Rio is secured. Darrell continues to train hard, and has procured tickets to the Track & Field Events, in the big stadium, for his father.

Dreams do come true! Go Team USA!!!!

Darrell remember one thing, you are already a winner! No matter the outcome keep in mind how hard you worked to get to where you are and that in itself is a true reward. I wish you the best and don't let the pressure get to you. Enjoy the experience so few get the chance to. I hope you and your dad have an amazing experience there together. God Bless you, your family and Liz who had a heart to help.
