Omar Delgado - Pulse Responder

$43,308 of $74,000 goal

Raised by 922 people in 19 months
So many lives have been affected by the Pulse Night Club shooting.  What I did not realize was that the officers that were part of that night are continuing to live with horrors that we cannot imagine.
Officer Delgado was one of the officers that was inside of the club, while the shooter was still actively shooting.  Since that night, Officer Delgado has continued to replay the events of that night and is having a hard time getting back to "normal."   He is in need of specialized counseling that is not covered by insurance.  He was gifted some sessions but that gift is running out.  Due to the horrors that he experienced, he has had to step away from his normal day to day duties as a Police Officer.  He continues to work but the income he is able to bring in does not allow for the counseling he needs to continue.
Please consider helping the Delgado family.  All of the money raised will go to support Officer Delgado get the counseling he so desperately wants and needs.

Based on the fact that this fund will now not only help with medical bills related to PTSD recovery, I have increased the amount to include salary replacement for about a year. We will continue to update as we know more about Omar's next steps. Thank you again for your generosity. The emails, advice, prayers and financial help are all making a positive influence.

In regards to Omar, there are many reports regarding what has happened to his position. As you may know, his last day at Town of Eatonville will be 12/31/17. All funds raised will continue to be used for medical care as well as to supplement the loss of income he is about to endure. I wish I knew exactly how much money Omar and his family will need but do not have the ability to come up with that amount. EVERY dollar that is raised has and continues to go directly to Omar Delgado for him to use as needed.

I wish I could send "thank you" notes to each of you...please know that I am humbled by your generosity to Omar - THANK YOU. Please continue to share and if you need info, you are welcome to email me thru gofundme. I will do my best to respond as quickly as I can. Again, thank you.

Omar has just been given word that he will be out of a job the end of 2017. This termination will be 6 months short of him getting his pension therefore he will lose his job AND his benefits for not only himself but his family! Please help us by sharing his story and donating and praying for healing. Thank you!

Find a good discrimination lawyer and go after them - you'll need GoFundMe help anyway but it's terrible what happened. There are plenty good civil rights lawyers in FL, or contact www.NELA.org.

I've reviewed the amount of contributions over even just the last half hour. I believe people will give from their heart after reading the latest update in USAToday. Have heart. Have hope. It will get better, and people are starting to reach out to help. The road less traveled is the hardest one; but Omar will not be left behind. He has already shown great, great worth and compassion. He will heal in time and the path will show more light than he could imagine. Stay strong, brother.

Kelly, I didn't realize this campaign had been created (Go Fund Me should provide some sort of duplicate campaign notification). Anyhow, I set up a similar Go Fund Me and we have donations. Is there any way to merge our campaigns?

Has anyone considered earmarking 6 months of Officer Delgado's gofundme total to "donate" to the Eatonville police department specifically to pay his last 6 months salary? It's $19,250 if the Today article is correct. That would help him more in the long run, by allowing hime to get his pension vested at 10 years, than it would to give him a chunk of cash now. Regardless, this is a travesty and the Eatonville City Council and anyone else who was involved in the decision to let Officer Delgado SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!!!!! I also go so far as to suggest that THEY should lose THEIR jobs, based on lack of empathy at a minimum and perhaps just being stupid - at worst.

Officer Delgado, Please reach out to me or have your wife do so. I am the spouse of a First Responder who was also diagnosed last year. I truly understand what both of you are going through, that only those of us who are living it know, especially at home. I have a professional mental health background coupled with my first hand experience. Please feel free to extend my invitation to your wife as she needs it as much as you do. Together you will be able to navigate this journey if you are both part of the equation. Priority is to keep you all together for the long haul.
