Hi All,
I'm Toby's girlfriend Kirsten.
On Friday the 22nd of July 2016 Toby was involved in a serious scooter accident in Bali and was left with life threatening injuries.
He suffered bleeding of the brain, 4 facial fractures, a shattered jaw, a broken clavicle and a shattered femur.
Following the accident in Bali he underwent his first surgery which involved removing a blood clot from his brain, and repairing his femur and clavicle using titanium plates and the night after he underwent his second surgery to re-construct his face/wire broken jaw shut.
Toby flew home from Bali on August 12th, he then spent two weeks at the Alfred being reviewed by docs until being moved to Caulfield Rehab hospital to begin his rehabilitation. He then spent two weeks there until he was allowed to go home.
Toby came out of Caulfield Rehab hospital on Friday Sep 2nd and on Tuesday Sep 6th was rushed back into emergency at the Alfred after his femur snapped from simply just going from a standing position to a seated position.
He went into emergency surgery the following day and had a new titanium rod inserted inside his femur, this rod runs from his hip to his knee.
While performing this surgery the doctors discovered a staph infection in his femur. After another couple of weeks in the Alfred Toby was allowed to head home.
He had a PIC line inserted and has the nurse visit him once a day at home to check his vitals and to pump antibiotics through the PIC line (to treat infection)
Unfortunately there are going to be hiccups along the way and we all need to remember that Toby is very lucky to still be with us.
At this stage Toby just needs to REST REST REST in order for his body to heal.
Toby and his family are completely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity, love and support and would like to say a very big thankyou to everyone who has donated! Every dollar counts!
Toby has begun withdrawing money from this page and it is helping immensely with his recovery process. Unfortunately he does still have a huge debt of medical bills and is unable to work at the moment however with the support he has received so far I believe he may be able to eventually pay this off.
