My name is Mary Perrin and I live in Lafayette. I am a concerned friend of Brian and Dawn Gotreaux of Gotreaux Family Farms in nearby Scott, LA.
For 16 years, Brian and Dawn Gotreaux and their amazing family of 10 adopted children have dedicated their lives to raising organic, sustainable, farm to table, nutrient-dense food. Dawn and Brian are extraordinary parents. The children are hard-working, competent, and have strong values.
All donations go directly to the Gotreaux family's bank account. Here's how the funds will be spent:
1. Their current crop was ruined by the recent flooding in Louisiana. Before they can replant, they must buy parts and fuel for the flooded tractor.
2. Crops are organic, so they must buy minerals.
3. They must buy feed for their livestock.
4. They must buy food for a family of 10 teenagers.
5. Maintenance on an organic farm is constant, it never stops. More often than not, you cannot plan or budget for it. Organic farming, says Brian Gotreaux, is one of the riskiest professions on earth financially. But it's also one of the most rewarding.
Funds are needed immediately. They have NO income and won't have any for two months after replanting lettuce, but this will be only a trickle. Without funds, they will be wiped out.
