I'm setting up this fundraiser on behalf of my Grandpa Harry Donovan. He was a WWII B-17 Pilot who flew 23 missions into Germany and also flew POWs home after the war.

For years now he has been trying to get his 1967 Mustang restored. Originally he bought the Mustang for his wife (now deceased) and the car has extreme sentimental value to him.

In 1969, the 94-year-old veteran bought the Ford Mustang for his wife Marie, who drove it until she passed away in the year 2000. Harry decided to have it restored in her memory in 2009.

Harry arranged to have a local mechanic work on the vehicle and quoted a price to have it fully restored. Unfortunately, Harry ended up trusting the wrong mechanic.

After paying for the work, Harry got his car back but not only was it not restored but was missing the engine, transmission, hood, radiator and some other parts.

If you would like to read a more in-depth story about Harry and what happened to his 1967 Mustang, here is a link to an article that the IndyStar newspaper published recently.

http://www.indystar.com/story/news/2016/07/07/mustang-mystery-maddening-veteran/82077364/

The money raised will go to restoring his Mustang. Any donation small or large would be greatly appreciated. If there is any money leftover after restoring the car we will be donating it to a Veterans charity.

Thank you very much. This would mean the world to my Grandpa.

Hi Everyone! My family and I have some news to share. We should finally be hitting the final stretch of restoring my Granddad’s Mustang! Here is a link to Tim Evan’s article in the Indy Star to learn more the current status of the car.

https://www.indystar.com/story/news/2017/10/30/indystar-call-action-volunteers-save-3-400-more-mustang-restoration-nearing-completion/807248001/

Like Tim mentioned in the article, so far the car has been mostly worked on by volunteers in their free time on the weekend and/or in the evenings. The Finer Details Shop has told us there is around 100 more hours of work left on the car which could take several more weeks or months at the current work rate. Due to the volunteers limited hours and Harry’s age, our family and Ken Mosier (Owner of The Finer Details) have decided to expedite the work. Ken Mosier and his shop have agreed to work full time to finish the project at a discount that covers only the cost of the employees’ time. We are still just a bit short in funds for parts and now labor due to wanting to accelerate the process by paying The Finer Details’ employees for their work.

If all goes according to plan, our next update will be about Harry reuniting with his completed 1967 Mustang!

The family and I received some photos the other day from the shop that is restoring my grandfather's car. Figured you would all like to see! We are hoping that it will be done soon and surprise my grandfather for his birthday. For some additional photos check out The Finer Details LLC Facebook page.

Wanted to give you all an updated. My dad took my grandpa, Harry, to visit the car on April 19th at The Finer Details Shop. They were focusing on finishing the engine but are still acquiring parts to finish the car off. In discussions with Ken Mosier, the shop's owner, he had indicated that the parts to finish the mustang cost more than he expected. He has told us it is going to cost an additional $7,000 so therefore we are raising the goal. Thankfully though the end is near. They are in the process of putting the car back together again. Once the car is finished and with your help we will present the final check to the folks at The Finer Details.

Video from CBS4 of Harry seeing the work that has been completed so far on his Ford Mustang at the World of Wheels car show. The car will hopefully be completed sometime in the spring.

I am so happy to donate to this Mustang's restoration! My own 1966 Red Mustang was a 20th wedding anniversary gift from my husband. I'd be totally heart broken to see something like this happen to that car!

Good luck on the restoration, thank you for your service as well. I hope the mustang can shine once again. I love older muscle cars. They are the best and a great piece of american history.
