gofundme asks, "to tell your story here" Well at just 13 years old Talia's story has just begun. Not that she isn't active or doesn't participate but because she is too young to have much of a story yet. That is why she needs  your help, so she can continue to write her story.

Look out cancer! Look out world! Talia may be small in size but that's where it ends. A huge heart, even bigger dreams, and so much fight make her one of the biggest people I know. Up to this point her story would talk about how much she loves her family and how important she is to them. It would include pages about how great of a friend she is to so many. Pages full of all the activities she enjoys and has always been such a big part of like track, volleyball, and school. It would include pages of just how much joy playing the saxophone brings her.

Like any great story there are twists and turns, ups and downs, and challenges that must be faced. The best stories just like this one talk about how brave the main character is, how strong they are, and the fight that they put up to concur immense challenges in their lives. That main character is a srappy little red head who those words describe to a T. As you read this Talia is sharpening her pencil, finding strength she didn't know she had, and beginning to write the next part of her story.

Talia was recently diagnosed with a rare Sarcoma (bone cancer) called Ewings. Not at all what she was expecting as she was preparing to start her freshman year at Seneca High School this fall. Talia and her family need you to be in this next part of her story. The part she talks about the family that stood behind her, the friends who cared more than she realized, and the strangers who became heroes. The many that gave and helped in ways she could never have imagined with only knowing a glimpse of her story.

Talia is a fighter, surprisingly strong, and is ready to do her part but she can't do it alone. Surgery, chemo, and radiation have just started. The Dr.'s have told her family that she will need constant care over the next 10 months minimum.  Living in a small town has its benefits but also means a lot of traveling to get Talia the care she will need to win this fight. Gas, tolls, hotel, and meal cost are just a small part of what the family will need help with. Dr. bills, hospital stays, and specialist will add to the cost of her treatment all too quickly. As any great parent would, mom (Tabitha) will be by her side. To do this means giving up the income she earns that is used to support her family. Dad's (Greg) and Joe will not ever be far behind but to do this will mean more missed work and income. The money raised will be used to get Talia the best care possible and to make sure her family can be there to care for her.

Talia is already overwhelmed with the thoughts and prayers she has received from family and friends. She wants to thank each and every one of you. Talia and her family will never be able to express how deeply grateful they will be for any generosity you are able to show. Please understand that ALL donation amounts will be helpful in writing the rest of Talia's story. No amount can be too big or too small.

Thank you for giving!

Im late, Im late, Im late....sorry to get this weeks update posted so late.

Overall another good as can be expected week and of course more heroes stepping up to help out.

The week started with a bit of a struggle. Talia was feeling pretty weak and nauseous. After a blood count check they understood. Of course this had Talia in the hospital longer than she was really hoping for. After a long day and most of the night getting a blood transfusion she was happy to be able to go home and avoid another overnight stay. Over the next 24 hours she improved significantly.

Mazon IL, most people will never know it exist. Even driving through if you blink you really might miss it. Most would say there is nothing there, just a blip on the map. But they would be wrong, there are plenty of wonderful things in this little town. No you won't find a Starbucks or any department stores to shop at it. Your favorite restaurant won't be here and unless you need gas you won't find much going on after 9 or 10pm. But one thing that this little town has plenty of are wonderful people.

This week more heroes came together to show their support for Talia and her family. Trevor Till (one of Talia's classmates) and his family headed up a car wash and bake sale. Fun was had by all including Talia who made a special appearance! Can't say enough about this great little town we call home.

We all want to give a big high five to the Mazon fire dept. for letting this event happen at the fire dept. Of course these guys are used to being heroes and know how to make a great day even better. Who wouldn't love a ride around town in a fire truck! What a way to end the day.

Sunday Talia finally got to think about starting her freshman year. Trevor, the great guy he is brought over Talia's school laptop and helped her get it set up. She is very excited to meet with her team at Seneca High School and set up a plan to continue her education.

By time you are reading this Talia will be into her next 5 day stay at the hospital getting her next rounds of treatment. Prayers and thoughts are needed this week to help Talia and her family make it through this hard time. Time away from and their family being separated makes this difficult time even more difficult.

Ok enough of my ramblings, I know you all want to hear from Talia so here you go.

"It was so awesome spending so much time with friends from school. It helps me feel so much better when I get to spend time with them and feel normal. Especially Thank you to Trevor for coming over and helping with my computer and what he did setting up the car wash! I had so much FUN! It helped my family so much!!!"

So much going on in the Freund house this past week. It would seem that ups and downs have become the norm. They have had a 1 year anniversary (congrats to the love birds) and Talia's brother just became a teenager. Happy Birthday Owen!

Sitting in the front seat on this crazy ride with her arms in the air is Talia. Her round of chemo this past week went a lot better this time. Just a couple days in the hospital and she was headed back home. Typical reactions with a mild fever that didn't hang around long. Good thing because Talia had places to go and people to see and Thank!

This past weekend Talia had an awesome time getting to see first hand the support a little town can give. The Team Talia table at the Mazon fun day was buzzing with great people all out to help support her and her family. Team Talia T shirts were seen everywhere you looked. Talia and her family are still in awe with the support they are getting. Without it the 24/7 care she requires would be impossible.

Team Talia T shirts are still available with 100% of the proceeds going to the Freund family. Also available are Team Talia rubber bracelets and car decals. If you would like to purchase any of the above and show your support email: teamtalia2016@gmail.com and put the item you are looking for in the subject line.

It's easy to get hung up on the downs on a ride like this one but if you look it's not very hard at all to see some amazing ups. Most of which are the great people in her life. The people that have a choice to get off this ride but are there for her through every up and down twist and turn. Riding in the back keeping the ride on it's tracks. Doing everything they can to make sure this ride does not derail. Talia's step dad Joe plays such a HUGE part in this. Talia, Tabitha, and Owen wanted to let him know how much he means to them and that they wouldn't be able to do this without him!

Of course we have words from Talia herself...wouldn't be an update without them.
"I am kinda at a loss for words - really tired this week but glad I could make it for the Mazon Fun Day, thank you to everyone who came out to see me and support my family, it was good to be out and to see everyone!"

Talia is resting up and preparing for her next intense round of chemo. This one is a little longer and going to be quite a bit on her little body. Prayers and thoughts for Talia and the rest of her family will be a huge help this week. Talia will be in the hospital for about 5 days during this treatment fighting and looking for that next up to come as quickly as possible.

Look for another update soon and Thank you all for standing behind Talia and her family as they go through this difficult journey together.

It has been a great week over at team Talia! I would suspect that all of you had a little something to do with it! Talia and her family can not express their Thanks enough for the support they have received.

Talia finally got a much needed break from the hospital and was able to be at home. She continues to be able to eat and has started gaining some much needed weight back.

The family knows that this can change at any point and there is still a very long road to travel but is enjoying every minute they get while things are going smoothly. Talia is preparing for her next round of chemo that will take place this week so it will be back to the hospital for what we all pray will just be a short stay.

Thank you to everyone on this journey with us and for your continued support.

Friday update for everyone...sorry we missed last week.
Talia was having a pretty hard time for a couple weeks with one of the biggest issues being she could not eat and keep anything down. Along with weight loss this lead to further complications. Her blood counts being to low and a worry that she would not be able to start her second round of chemo.

Being the fighter that she is, she turned things around this week and they were able to proceed with her second round of chemo on Wednesday. Not fun but very good news. This round has gone much better than the first as she is now able to at least eat a little each day. The next big hurdle is being able to eat enough and get the amount of nutrients that she needs to be able to have the IV removed.

On a positive note after 4 weeks in the Hospital Talia was granted a 12 hour leave to go out and get some fresh air. Everyone was very excited for this and even though exhausted upon her return Talia made the most out of her day.

Prayers and thoughts are needed as the next few days will decide if Talia gets to go home next week for a few days. Something she is very much looking forward to.

A little something from Talia herself.... " Thank you all for caring so much and all that you are doing to help me get better"

Hopefully next week's update will bring more good news and progress. Thank you all for being such a big part of making this possible.
