Support for the Garafola Family
On 7/17/16 at approx. 0845 hrs., East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Deputy Bradford Garafola was tragically and senselessly killed in the Line of Duty after leaving his place of safety to render aid to a BRPD Police Officer who had just been shot. Brad selflessly paid the ultimate price trying to save a fallen comrade. Brad was working one last extra duty assignment at the B Quik Gas Station on Airline Highway before taking his wife and children (my sister, nieces and nephew) on their summer vacation. His wife, Tonja Garafola, was on her way to meet him at his extra duty assignment in preparation for the much needed family trip. Before her arrival to meet him, she was instead met by a multitude of police personnel who were actively working the shooting scene. She was detoured and originally told that her husband was fine and did not learn that her husband had actually been killed until about an hour later.
Upon speaking with my nieces and nephew, ages 7, 12 and 15, the one question that remained constant from them was where they were going to live and how were they going to survive without the support of their father. At this age, they should be more concerned with mourning the loss of their father, who was their sole provider and loved them unconditionally, instead of worrying about where they go from here. This family lost a husband and a father by the hands of someone that he would have helped instead of hurting. Deputy Garafola was one Officer who would truly give you whatever you needed and go without and never ask for anything in return, regardless of race, creed or color. Because I know that he would create an account for anyone that needed it and be the first to donate, I am asking you to do the same. Give these children peace of mind so that when they are finally able to go to sleep, knowing their father is NEVER coming home again, at least they will not be worried about whether they will have to leave the very house their father created so many memories for them. Deputy Bradford Garafola is truly his children's hero and they will forever miss him.
Thank you in advance for all contributions to this grieving family and any amount is greatly appreciated !

My heart aches for Deputy Garafola's family and friends as well as his law enforcement family. Your sister and him live next door to my nephew and my son's good friend Chance. I also grew up with the Tullier's so this really hits home for me. Many thoughts and prayers for your family and everyone else affected by this SENSELESS act of violence toward our men and women in blue. My family is very sorry for your loss.
My daughter raised 1380 dollars from lemonade stand to be split between all three families you can expect it to be done wed when we go to the local tv sation that wants to film it. https://www.facebook.com/lovewithlemons is her facebook page that has videos from the event. God bless your family.
We owe these men so much, and we can help their families now. Please consider donating to these families. We need all who serve, and they need all of our support.
Your family is in my prayers. I made a donation 4 minutes ago but prefer that it be anonymous. Children should never have to worry at a time like this. My daughter was prepared and the security of knowing that they (children) will be ok is extremely important. I'm sore it's only 3 digits and I can't afford more. God Bless you dear lady and your children. May seem odd to hear but from one widow to another Join a Group of widows!! Prayers
