Historic Synagogue Needs Support

Tax deductible
Temple Emanu-El was founded in 1907.
The building of Temple Emanu-El, which is listed on the National Register for Historic Places, is a distinguished, classical revival structure which is said to have been modeled after the great synagogue of Warsaw. It is one of the best preserved synagogues of its period in the New York area. In 1928 the Educational Building was erected in order to provide more space for educational and social activities. Fast forward to 2016. At present the congregation draws its membership from the whole of Staten Island. The members of Temple Emanu-El are a diverse group regarding age, Jewish background and social & economic status. Due to changing demographics and times, our membership, which at one time was 400 families, has dwindled , while the cost of maintaining the buildings has risen. The odds against us, we survive. We have services and simchas. What we don't have, is the money needed to repair the roofs, floors, windows, and floors of our buildings.
The Educational Building has been rented to schools, and donates space to a Kosher Food Pantry for the community, but it is not enough.
Please help this still vibrant congregation save our historic buildings by donating today. Every little bit helps!
