CHASE Inc. Stolen Equipment Fund

Cutting to the Chase, Inc. (CHASE Inc.) located in Arcata is a Non-Profit employment service program that is vendored through Redwood Coast Regional Center.  We provide employment services to people with Developmental Disabilities.  We opened August 1, 2006, and currently serve 14 individuals with disabilities.  We have a variety of jobs that the people we serve complete on a daily basis.  We shred confidential documents, cut and assemble parts, and we also have over 100 lawn sites that are completed bi-monthly. The people in our program get paid minimum wage or better, and in the almost 10 years we have been open, we have paid out nearly 1 Million dollars in wages to the people we serve.

The reason for reaching out is because on Sunday, July 10th at approximately 2:00am, someone cut the locks off of our crew trailer and stole all of the contents.  I know that burglary and theft is on the rise, however, these items weren't just things.  They were essentially peoples jobs.  Without these items, there are numerous individuals that won't be able to work.  We don't have insurance to replace these items, and replacement costs will be several thousand dollars, which we don't have and we will only be able to slowly replace the items taken.  The items taken were 2 STIHL trimmers, 1 STIHL chainsaw, 1 Craftsman chainsaw, 1 STIHL blower, 1 STIHL edger, 1 STIHL hedger, 2 gas cans, 1 (126 piece) Craftsman tool set, and 1 Air pump.  We filed a police report, and have gone to the local pawn shops with the serial numbers hoping that something would turn up, but have been told that the chance of getting our equipment back is slim to none.
I know that this issue is small in comparison to many things going on in our community and world, but it is HUGE to us and the people that we serve.  This crew equipment was their livelihood. This is why we are asking for our communities help.  All funds raised will go directly to purchase new equipment,  such as trimmers, edgers, saws, etc.   That is why the amount that we hope to raise is reasonably small, because we aren't looking to make a profit on this, we are just wanting to replace the stolen equipment with the same makes and models that the people we serve are use to working with.
Raising this money will make a HUGE direct impact on numerous peoples lives, and all donations are greatly appreciated!!  All donations are tax deductable, please  contact us for our 501(c)3 non-profit number.
