On Thursday, November 30th around 5:00 pm,  3 years young "Thor" beloved pet of Peter & Unice Rogaishio was struck by not one care but two in front of their home on Fiske Street in Holliston.  I happened to be riding by right after Thor was hit.  It was awful.  He had lost so much blood.  Peter Rogaishio was in shock and helplessly waiting for some help to arrive.  Holliston Police were directing traffic and Animal Control was on the way but in heavy rush hour traffic.  There was no time to spare.   They decided to pick up Thor with a Tarp and put him in the back of Peter Rogaishio's truck to get him to IVG MetroWest in Natick stat.

Peter was desperately trying to save his dog's life and was caught in heavy rush hour traffic.  While on West Central Street he illegally passed several vehicles, one being a Natick Police Officer.  Natick Police put on their lights, but Peter was in a life or death situation and kept going.   He finally pulled over and was arrested on the spot.   He was yelling at the officers that his dog was hit.  The police saw the blood all over Peter and looked in the back seat.  There they discovered Thor who lay lifeless.   The police took Peter's truck and rushed Thor to the Emergency room at IVG MetroWest in Natick.

The police did recognize that there were extenuating circumstances that led him to drive in that fashion and put a number of people at risk.  At his hearing the following day, Peter was ordered to complete a traffic safety course in the next two months.

Thor had to be transported by IVG MetroWest to Tufts Medical in Grafton where he miraculously is still alive.  He has three broken legs.  Compound breaks to both of his front two legs and a shattered femur.  In addition, he has facial injuries along with numerous other injuries.  Thor's will to survive is amazing, he has the heart of a lion!

Estimated medical cost is $

22, 000 which does not include months of recovery ahead.

Peter & Eunice have no children other than Thor.  It's their baby.  It's going to be a long road to recovery for him and the family.

We would be so grateful for any help you may be able to give.

Thank you,
Lisa Zais

Well these pictures will make everyone smile. Thor on January 23rd after his bandage changes. He has come so far. Notice the bandages are not on his back legs. He thanks everyone for all of their love and support since the accident on November 30th. The support was so strong it gave me the will to fight.

Hi Everyone. Just about a week ago, I had a progress report all set to go on Thor, but something inside me told me to wait. I'm glad that I did. It wasn't as good as this one.
You may or may not know, but Thor had two more surgeries in the past two weeks. He had his right front pad removed from his paw. Poor baby. Painful. A week later, he had yet another surgery on his back paw. He had holes in his paws, which occur after so many antibiotics have been administered.

Peter continues to bring Thor to Tufts every day for bandage changes, which is critical to Thor's recovery. It's all about avoiding infection at this point.

Stay strong Thor! We are all rooting for you...
Will keep you posted.

Wanted to update everyone on Thor's surgery on Tuesday. This poor little guy. Honestly, he has been through so much yet continues to be in good spirits. He had is right pad removed. Pretty intense surgery. Now, we wait and pray there is no infection. If that wasn't enough, one of his back paws has a hole in it. They are watching this closely. Thor not contracting an infection is crucial. He is not out of the woods, by any stretch. Peter was picking him up on Tuesday and going back yesterday for a bandage change. I will update you as soon as I hear back from him. Thank you all for your generosity and most importantly your caring and prayers.

Hello Everyone. I am over the moon happy to say that Thor was able to go home the day before Christmas. A true Christmas miracle. His parents have been bringing him back daily for bandage changes to both of his front legs. He is on heavy heavy antibiotics, which, thank god has started the healing process. Very slowly, but we'll take it. Another set back has occurred, because of the heavy antibiotics that he is taking. The pad on his front right paw has separated. Doctors at Tufts have been watching this closely and decided that they have to do surgery to remove the pad. The surgery will be on Tuesday the 2nd of January. Doctors have said the pad will grow back.
Thor needs round the clock care. His parents are up every few hours to make sure he gets his medicine timely. They are so happy he is home. Again, a miracle. Thor is in good spirits despite everything he has been through the past few weeks.
He and his parents are so grateful to all of you for your generous donations, love and continued support.
Love, Thor
