Nia's Paddle For A Cure

Spende geschützt
My daughter Nia is a 25-year-old married mother of two beautiful daughters, Nakya 7, and Zariah 2, she is also expecting her 3rd child a boy in November 2016. In February of 2016 Nia was diagnosis with Stage O breast Ca. Now anyone who knows Nia, knows she always has big smile and a very positive outlook on life. She took the news with that same smile, and the attitude of I can beat this. In May she had R-Mastectomy the Dr. informed us during surgery that they found that the Ca. had spread into her lymphatic system, and was now at Stage II.  Our family was devastated at that news.

So now things went into a different direction, from no chemotherapy, to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. We were wondering how Nia would take the news; but being true to who Nia is, when she awoke and heard the news, her smile got bigger, she focused her determination, and was ready for a battle. In the weeks following the initial surgery, she endured 2 more surgeries, but always kept that positive attitude, and that smile somehow seemed to have gotten bigger, and brighter.

During this time Nia’s husband Chris, who is in the United States Army and has been by her side throughout this whole ordeal, had to return to his base in Louisiana, and is right now in limbo about rather he’ll be able to come back to a non-deployable unit or be deployed to Afghanistan with his unit, which means he won’t be by Nia’s side and will miss the birth of their first son.

But Nia is still remaining positive and determined even though now comes the 1st battle, she starts chemotherapy July 20th which consist of 2 different regiments of drugs that are safe for the baby, that she’ll continue until November when the baby is born. After the baby is born comes the 2nd battle, 3 more different type of chemotherapy drugs that are a little more toxic than the first two, followed by a final push of radiation therapy. If all goes as planned, buy December 2017 Nia will have fought the battle of a life time and will have won the war.

No matter what Nia’s been through or about to go through she always wears that big bright smile, that says everything is going to be ok. Has that positive attitude and outlook that says, I know what I’ve been through, and I know what I’m going to go through, and I can beat this. The resolve and the strength to fight and see this battle end in victory. And the hope that she can be an inspiration to others, to never give up.

Nia means purpose, and purpose is to achieve, to have determination, to have a desire, a goal, an aim, to complete a task, and the brightness of her smile says it all about her sprit.

Nia has a long road to travel and with donations, the love of her family, her friends and the help of the community that road can be a little less bumpy and a better chance of beating this dreaded disease.
