Hello everyone!
I am Ryan Fahnestock, a Life Scout from Troop 393 in Lancaster, PA. I am working towards the rank of Eagle Scout. My project will be constructing a Bocce Ball Court at Martin Meylin Middle School. At the moment students are standing around in a parking lot for recess, doing nothing, and getting in the way of staff and parents trying to leave/enter the lot. My project will provide another activity that will benefit the students during recess, along with the existing Gaga Pit installed by another member of our Troop, and will also help to solve some traffic issues around the school campus. The Bocce Ball Court will also be available for community use.
The cost of materials for this project would be well over $2,000 if we had not received a generous donation of AstroTurf from Mr. Brett Anderson of Ecore International in Lancaster. I am hoping to raise $1,200 to cover the cost of framing and base for the court and any extra money raised will be used to purchase a Bocce Ball Set and/or go to the school as donations.
Scouts and Leaders from my Troop will help with construction during early September. Any amount that is donated is appreciated, and will help towards achieving this goal. Thank you!
