Sending Jim's Ashes into Space
Despite his great love for this industry he also had an empty place in his heart. Jim would look up in the sky with wonder and sadness because he knew that while he lived he would never make it to the place he always wanted to go SPACE.
I cannot think of a more fitting tribute to the love of my life than to send a token amount of his ashes into space. The money you give will go towards making this happen. There is a flight in November, 2016. Room on this flight is limited. So, I will need the money as soon as possible to reserve a space for him. If I miss getting his ashes on this flight he may have to wait 2 or more years for another opening.
My husband was and is everything to me. In order for me to honor him and our deep love for each other I cannot think of a more appropriate way to make his dream of space travel come true.
I hope you can find it in your heart to help me accomplish this so I can help him fulfill his lifelong dream.
Thank you for your generosity.
We've reached goal. Jim will have a fully funded trip into space.
To all of you who donated and shared the link I can not express how much your generosity touches my heart. I could not have done this without you.
If I could express in writing in the same way I could express myself verbally tears would be rolling down my face and the words out of my mouth would be difficult to get out over the sobbing for joy.
Jim's dream to travel in space is now a reality thanks to you all.
I received more direct donations so I have again adjusted the amount needed for the final amount.
We are now 809.00 short of goal.
A BIG THANK YOU for those who have already donated. In the beginning of this venture I did not think I would make it until goal. But now it seems doable.
So, if you haven't donated yet any amount will do to bring us closer to the final amount needed.
You can also help by sharing the link to the gofundme page. I myself could not reach everyone so with your help we will hopefully reach out to others who may want to donate or share this page.
With much gratitude,
Good News! Thanks to some additional checks coming in the mail today I have adjusted the goal amount.
I am happy to say that we are only $879.00 away from goal.
Thank you just doesn't seem adequate enough.
The new amount needed to complete the funding to send Jim's ashes into space is now $1,404.00. As more direct amounts come in I will adjust the amount needed.
Thank you all for getting us this far.
I only knew James on Facebook these past four years or so, didn't realize his relationship with the "down-the-street" publishing house Apogee Books. James and I interacted mostly about Project Apollo, though we talked about SpaceX a lot in a group that I co-adminiister on Facebook. His death was shocking, and his voice will be truly missed in the space community at-large. RIP.
Congrats on the Funds. Jim wanted to meet my family, my wife and my kid. Its sad he never had the chance to meet them. I talked about him a lot to my wife and kid about the good old days of the California Science Center. RIP
