PAWS Maker Space Fund

We've been wanting to implement a MakerSpace at our PAWS Afterschool Program and summer camp for a few years now. We've been doing this for the last couple years with basic supplies and junk people donate but we'd love to add a little more technology to this awesome program. The MakerSpace movement is a great way for kids to create and learn through trial and error. Kids have a hard time with failure and want teachers and parents to give them instant gratification. We adults know this is not how the "real world" works. Through MakerSpace, the kids have unstructured time and are given materials to work on their own projects, solve problems together, and try things out over and over again, makerspaces can be an exciting laboratory. It allows them time to create with different challenges that are given to them as well exploring different ways to code, create movies, and make whatever they want to and to explore what they like and are good at. It really pushes them to use their creativity and to work through trial and error. It allows our staff to ask questions like "what went wrong and how can you fix it?" I have been through many trainings and am excited to finally get started with the technology part of this program now that we know that we have received our 21st Century Grant and will have our program for at least 5 more years!!! We do receive an amazing amount of money from this grant but all of that money goes towards running the program like: staff pay, snacks, busing, and basic supplies. We are buying 4 new iPads for checking in but we'd love to be able to do more with these. The technology we'd like to add are Robatics and coding, Movie Making (stop motion, and green screen), building Knects and Legos, Etc. please consider helping us reach our goal! We all know these kids are our future and I feel if we can help them in any way to make our future brighter... Well let's do that!
